99-06 Rear Bumper Question

I have a 2002 GMC Sierra fleetside and the rear chrome bumper is rotten with rust. I am having a hard time finding a good used chrome bumper and am not paying the $550 they want here for a new one. However, someone is selling an 88-98 chrome rear bumper in my area that is in really good shape. Can this bumper be made to fit (mounts etc.) and what would it look like?

I just bought a brand new chrome bumper for my '01 on e-bay. $150.00 in the door. It is just the bumper and not the plastic trim. It was made in Taiwan and it feels pretty light but it will last as long as I am planning to own the truck.
