truck had been drinking coolant for a couple months

had my mechanic pressure test the system and he found no leaks

Truck starts ticking loudly on start ups almost sounding like a diesel

truck out of the blue stops ticking on start up and the coolant is staying in tact for about 2 weeks

the other night on my way home it overheated badly, lights, guage pinned.

Its at my mechanics and he wants to pull the top off and check the head gasket and heads.

could it be a water pump gasket?

sorry 2005 model bought in 06'

another looooooksee is required obviously ..

a water pump and or gasket is easy to diagnose with a light and does not need a tech to do it ,ya just need to know where and what u are lookin at ..

pressure test again is my first thought but damage done from overheat maybe sumfin else

search castech, tons of informative threads on the topic

Thanks, I have researched it ever since it started drinking coolant almost 4 months ago and their was no leak. I haven't heard of anyone overheating from it while they still have radiatior fluid still in the res like myself, it just seems a bit odd that my truck overheated with fluid at the full mark

Also truck has puffed out some blueish smoke the past couple weeks upon startup
