is depressing. spent all day going from lot to lot checking things, if i found anything in the year and price range it was way too much even if i haggled on the price. or if it was closer to price range it was bashed to ####. then all the private party stuff is bunch of donkeys who think they have a gold mine.  i'm tired of looking. someone else find me what i want. i'm going back to bed

new cost way too much. i'm looking for 1990+ and hoping some how i can get a 95 or 96 in the 10k range  (and i like this body style better then the brand new ones)

I've been doing the same for about 6-8 months now.  I guess I'm being too picky, but for the money I'm going to spend I'm going to get what I want.

K2500 or K3500

reg or extended cab

'96 or newer

350 motor, auto tranny

good condition, not a ton of miles

a decent price

basicly what i want. but has to be ext cab. and basic power options. doors locks. etc.. but it seems everything is missing one key thing or the other. its just annoying after a while.

I've pretty much decided that I will never find a used truck in the shape, with the options I want.  So, I'm going to save my money for 2 more years, and by me a new truck when I get out of college.

It takes time but if you keep looking you will eventually find what you are looking for. If someone on the forum found what you are looking for at the right price would you be willing to travel, and if so how far?

There are tons of trucks at www.autotrader.com. I just don't punch in a zip code and see what's out there across the land.  If you have to travel to get to it, than you get a road trip in your new truck on the way home!  I do think you're going to have a hard time finding a '95 or '96 xcab with power options for around ?K, unless it's got a ton of miles.....

Jpshostr, are replacing the K2500 you have or adding to the fleet?  I would think with all of the towing you do, you'd want a manual.  What's with the auto tranny?

It will replace my S10 Blazer, which I am selling to my sister when she gets her license.  The truck that I am hoping to find will be my personal vehicle that I will drive to college and back, in addition to working around on the farm.  The truck we have now will be used for the majority of the towing, but mine will see the trailer occasionally.  Both dad and I prefer the auto tranny for our general farmwork, as much backing around and stopping and getting out as we do it is so much easier to just move a lever on the column rather then mess with a stickshift.  We have never had any trouble with any of the automatics we have used, so we really have no reason to give up on them.
