2005 Z71 Shift Indicator won't show neutral

I have this issue where the truck definitely goes into neutral but the indicator won't show neutral. It show Park, slight delay into Reverse but when I shift into neutral the indicator goes straight back to park. But the truck is in fact in neutral. It shows Drive or the other gears just fine, but when I come back to neutral the indicator jumps back to park. The truck runs and drives just fine. The only problem is that I can't shift into 4 Lo because the truck doesn't see that it's in neutral. Drives me nuts. 2 hi and 4 hi work just fine along with auto 4 hi. I've replaced the range switch twice with no change in the problem. Does anyone here have experience with this problem. My next thought is to chase wiring back from the range switch plug.
