Got my power windows in.

I finally got my power windows in. With the exception of one non working switch and a lock rod that needs to be adjusted, it all went pretty well. I got the motor/regulators from a1electric and they bolted in perfectly. I bought new door panels from a parts yard that included the switches/bezels from an 04. I pulled the switches out and put the aftermarket switches in the 04 bezel (after a little dremel work. ) I used the cap that was supposed to be to cover the crank hole to cover up the mirror switch hole in the switch bezel. I have one small hole left though that I haven't figured out what to do with yet. It was the hole for the switch to change sides for the mirror adjustment. I will try to post pictures later as soon as I find a host. I would like to thank all the people on the board that gave me advice on the project and to NothinButBowTies for helping me with a part I was looking for. Thanks again.

Right now, I have the aftermarket switches and wiring harness mounted in the 2004 bezels. I will work on finding some 2000 switches as I have time and maybe switch it out.

I haven't forgotten about the pics, just waiting for my replacement and missing switch so I can put them in there before I take a picture. I got my lock rod adjusted easy enough. I kept bending it with pliers until I got pissed off and took the panel back off to find it had slipped out of the plastic guide. ( DOH! ) Not it works great. Should have the switches sometime this week and will take about 10 minutes to put them in, then will take the pictures.

dmc874,

Great job! I'm looking to due this myself on my 99 sierra. So all you need is the motor/regulators and the wiring/switches. So does the power motor go in place of where the crank went? Do ya have any instructions on the installl?

I got the bolt in kit from a1electric. Basically the old regulator is bolted in with 6 bolts. You unbolt it and bolt the new regulator with the motor in its place. It is a pretty simple process, just time consuming. You will want to run all the wiring through the dash and into the doors (through the loom is the hardest part) before you replace the regulators. Use some blue masking tape to hold the windows up (or glass suction cups if you have them. Dent pulling suction cups do not work!) I overdid it on the tape but did not want to replace a window because it fell. Once it is secured, loosen the regulator from the window and crank it down a bit just to get it off the windows. Take out the six bolts and wiggle it through the hole in the door. I had to take off the inside door handle to make it more manageble and take the insulation out of the way. After you take the old regulator out, you wiggle the new one in and bolt it is the same holes with the bolts that came with the regulators. THey tell you to then lower the window into the regulator, but if you do this you can't get to the bolts to attach it to the window. I instead put some power to the motors and raised them up to the window and attached. Then it is just a matter of putting all your parts back on and mounting your switches. I opted for some new door panels from a power window truck and mounted the switches in the bezels. New door panels with the bezels cast me $250, but look alot better than the old ones would have with holes cut in them and a patch over the old crank hole. I got mine from a supplier in Oklahoma City and had them ship them to me here in DFW. I can give you his name if you are interested. As soon as my switches come in, I will get them in and take some pics. Let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you.

Still haven't figured out what to put in the very top hole. Will think of something cool. I hope.

OK. I am asking for some ideas. Anybody have anyideas as to what to put in the small hole in the drivers side or even in that mirror hole that is currently covered up on the drivers side? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

You could get the factory switches. That would fill the holes, and would give you the ability to add power mirrors. They are on ebay for 20 bucks for the pair.

I am looking for a place to put a toggle for bed lighting, that would be the ideal spot. BTW what did you pay for the door panels and where did you get them?
