Lift Kit for '86 Blazer

I was wondering if anybody could recommend a lift kit for an '86 full size Blazer? Are they all the same. I was looking for a 2 or 2 1/2 inch lift. And is there anything else on the truck that would have to be changed due to the lift? Thanks in advance.

I put a 2 inch body lift on mine....got it done in about a day and a half.....would have taken 4 hours, if I had ever done it before....and a better jack...and it wasn't winter.

With the 2 inch body, we had to cut the shifter linkage to the tranny...you have to put this 2 inch peice of metal in it...I had a friend that welded so we went to his work, and he cut it and welded it in for us.

Other than that the only thing I can think of is that when you are doing the lift, you have to cut these two metal springloaded tailgate assist bars....I didn;t know about them, till I we were jacking up the rear body, and the bolts were loose....all of a sudden the rear tires come off the ground...we sat there shaking our heads till we figured out why it was doing it...these bars are attached to the frame.

Also..you may want to buy new bushing/pads?? I don't know what their called...but the body sits on them they're rubber....after you put the body spacers in you put the stock pads back on between the spacer and the body...mine we all old and dry rotted, I imagine a new one would really improve the ride.

LMAO(I just keep thinking of new stuff) Getting the steering column to expand for the body lift was a PITA....but once you read the instructions it gets a whole lot easier....

The hardest part about it was breaking the body bols...and we had to cut a cople of carriage bolts off that were back in the bed...once we got the old bolts off...it went real smooth.

Good luck

BTW...I think I got te body lift from summit....Performace Accesories if I remeber right....It was like 80 bucks or something....they sent me a couple of wrong sized bolts, but we just went to lowes and got new ones. Just check the kit before you start doing it to make sure you got everything
