What are my options?

I posted a question back in July about a vibration I get in my 2003 Sierra. The vibration/rattling occurs usually when traveling at about 40 MPH/1200 RPM. I had it into the dealer again last week. First they thought it was the exhaust heat shield and replaced it. No Luck. They then replaced the muffler (they thought it was a baffle inside). No Luck. They have now traced the problem to the transfer case (4.8L Sierra 4X4 with manual shift transfer case, not electronic). The dealer says they identified this problem in past year models like the 2002 Sierras. The problem does not occur with the electronic switch transfer cases. They said they made adjustments with the torque converter so it locks in at a different RPM, but it still does it. I asked them to replace the transfer case (seems logical). The dealer contacted the Area Service Rep who stated they won't replace it at this time because the new transfer case will do the same thing eventually. He states they have an engineer working to correct the problem. So apparently I'm supposed to live with this vibration/rattling until they come up with a fix in who knows how long. Are any of you aware of this transfer case problem? Do I have any recourse other than to wait? Any help or comments would be appreciated.

i'm not a pro in this area, but i think you have to wait it out. Honda's CRV's had a similar problem. my dad kept taking it in and i kept telling him it i thought it was in the trans somewhere, they kept telling him the tires.... they ended up have a class action suit for it. based on GM's background (in my experience anyways) i think you'll see a recall before a lawsuit. in my experience they are pretty quick about it.... but we'll see!
