How much lift is legal

I want to put an extreme lift on my truck about 14", but I don't know how much is to much (legally). Where can I find local laws about this. I don't want to spend all that money and end up having to take it off.

I guess this means I can't get that big of a lift, I guess I'll get it anyway. How much can the fine be? Can I just extend my bump down to make it legal, I guess it might look weird though?

If you look, the frame can also be used as a measurement point and they are the same heights as the bumpers. I'm not sure about about local police, but PA state police really don't let anything slide. I'm from NJ and I used to own a truck that was legal in NJ but not in PA. I got pulled over twice in PA. I never got a ticket, but the cop did remind me of the fact that you have to abide by the rules of the state your in.
