2004 Chev 2500 HD Diesel

Returning from a short trip today, a weird noise then black smoke from the tail pipe. This was a continuous flow of black smoke along with a short miss/hesitation from engine. It went on for about 1/2 mile. I stopped, looked but seen nothing. Continued on home about 55 to 65 MPH for 100 miles. All seem ok. What could this possibly be? Oil pressure about 30 idling, 50 while driving, 60 when under load. Oh ya, The truck only has 2500 miles.

It sounds like you had a stuck injector for a short time.

 

Being under warranty still, I'd bring it to the dealer and have them check codes and data, and make sure there are no software updates or service bulletins on your truck.

just went threw this myself i have 04 2500hd 4x4 d/a

at aprox 2800 miles i was driving 70-75mph looked back

had a cho-cho train of black smoke out of tailpipe.also ever

yonce and awile a hickup from motor then would puff a white

cloud.i had approx 70-74 miles left to empty accorrdiung

to dic. i just stopped and filled up with more fuel thinking

i got some bad stuff already now have 2 more tanks threw it

and not on bit of smoke i called 2 dealers and spoke with them

said same thing bad gas they never ran into a situation like that

with the lly motor. also had a freind a chevy dealer run tsbs or

any kind of message on vehicle there is none out there so take it

for what it is i have not had a problem since i still love my truck

would not give it up period good luck
