FYI,

I contacted AC Delco with the following question, and here is their reply.

I guess now that it's documented and I have an engine failure while using a PF59 I'll get denied warrenty

...my question to AC..

I have a 04 GMC Sierra with the 6.0 L engine, the owners manual states a PF44 as the proper oil filter and this is what came on the truck however I can not find this filter, all information and this web site state that a PF46 is the right filter, has the PF44 been replaced with the PF46 ??

Also, I have been told that the PF52 will also work(longer filter but the same otherwise) is this information correct, can I use the PF52 filter with this engine?

..and their reply..

Thank you for writing ACDelco.

Thank-you for your e-mail Mr.Cornell regarding your 2004 GMC Sierra.

According to our record ACDelco oil filter PF44 has been replaced by the PF46. The PF46 is the oil filter that is now recommended for your vehicle.

The PF52 may be able to work with your vehicle, however we suggest you use the PF46.

If we can assist you further, please contact us at www.acdelco.com

Thank you for your interest in ACDelco.

My Chevrolet dealer puts on a PF59 on my 6.0L even though it calls out the PF44 in the owners manual. I've been told too that the PF46 has replaced the PF44.

Cheers! :nono:
