Most lift manufacturers will give you a pretty good idea of what tires you can fit with their lift kits if you call them with a pre-sales technical support question.

 

Different brand suspension lift kits will lift the truck different amounts, even though they may indicate otherwise. For this reason, it's best to check with the manufacturer as well as with people who have installed the ones you're considering.

 

If you don't want ANY lift, you can get cut out flares and fit 35" tires. At least that's what Bushwacker says about their product.

 

If you're going from 245's to 35" and have 3.73 gears, you'll want to change the ratio to 4.56.

The difference between 4 & 6 inches of lift is not all that much. Is there a particular reason you're trying to avoid a 6" lift?

A full 6" suspension lift is the way to go to run 35's. You won't have any rubbing issues that way. With a four inch you might put a tire into a fender if you really jounce it one. There doesn't seem to be any cost differance, might as well go all the way!
