AirBag Rattle?? Anyone Have This?

Has anyone noticed a rattle in their steering wheel airbag? Mine seems to do it the worst when its cold.. then as the temp rises it don't do it as bad, I would say freezing and below is the worst.

I had it to the dealer once and they put a couple o'rings on the shafts that fit into the wheel but this done nothing for a fix. It is inside the unit itself.

its most likely the kernels of popcorn starting to swell because as you know, that is how gm is cheapening our vehicles. A bag of jiffypop will save our lives!! you'll be in for a big surprise when it suddenly blows up and you have popcorn all over the truck!!! just kidding ya~

 

does it rattle when you turn the wheel in these cold temperatures? It could be the pickup for the horn contacts.

your prob right... Hope it is buttered and salted!LoL..

 

its another "GM Normal" Thing. like the leafspring clunk I have.

(or at least I think its the leafspring doing the clunk, only sometimes

and only in reverse) ya Normal.

 

it does it regardless of turning or not when there is any bumps or

lightly tapping the wheel will cause it as well.

Can you physically move the airbag?

 

I have seen one instance that the airbag was misinstalled at the factory and one of the alignment/locking pins was bent, allowing a bit of side to side movement that caused a very annoying rattle.

yes it will move just a very little but it still rattles while holding it.

when they took it out the first time and put the o'rings on you could

shake it and it rattled. however the guy said the o'rings should stop it.

Turns out it did not.

so now I will try to get them to replace it and hope that won't be a battle..

had the problem.
