Avalanche Transmission

Just thought I would let everyone know and see if anybody else has had a problem with theirs. The truck had been doing fine until this morning...it would not shift into high gear.

Sorry to hear that. You rarely hear of a 4L60E failing these days let alone one with only 2800 miles. What you are saying is that you lost OD am I right?

I do know of a five speed manual in a HD having to be replaced with less than 1000 miles. One of our member (Pantera) has to have his replaced...

That's right the OD. I could not do over 40mph. The check engine light came on and I pressed the Onstar button. They ran diagnostics and told me something was wrong....duh! But they could not tell what it was. Oh well I thought it was a nice try.

I was kinda hoping it was something electrical/computer causing it not to shift but that's my luck.

My wifes minivan (Olds) started bucking and acting funny this summer (7K miles). The thing wouldn't shift and wouldn't get over 45 mph with service engine soon light on. It started to clear itself up, but still didn't run well. The dealer ran the diagnostics and updated the computer and it's been fine ever since. Go figure...

That is strange. I have not heard of that so far. As long as the manufacture covers it then it is No Worries.

Thought I would give ya'll an update. I got my Avalanche back today. They pulled the transmission and wound up replace a teflon seal..?? So they didn't have to replace the transmission itself.

Back on the road again. At least the dealer rented a car for me to get around in for the last 3 days.

All that they said that it a bad bypass seal and that it was made out of teflon. I asked if they had seen much of this before and they said they haven't. Let's just hope it's a fluke.

My transmission was replaced last July with 1200 miles on it. Wouldn't go into reverse which is required when you have your boat hooked up to it! I got a new transmission out of the deal as i refused to have a truck with a transmission that already had problems.
