2005 2500HD Tire questions

Hi everyone. Im sure if I looked all night long I may find the anser to my question but I am hoping this will produce faster results. I just bought a 2005 2500HD 4x4 Crewcab with an 8' bed and was just wondering what the hell gm was thinking by putting such tiny tires on it!!! I want to put atleast 305's on it but I really dont want to lift it another 6''. What are all my options here?? new rims and tires? is there less than a 6'' lift avalible for 05 yet? will a ''green key'' be enough to fit 33's or better yet 35's under this beast. If anyone has pics I would love to see them as well. Sorry for the stupid questions guys, I didnt know who else to ask!! THANKS.

i am buying a 05 as well - silverado 2500HD. I also want the bigger tires on and i am planning on going with a cognito leveling kit.I will then put on larger tires,

285 /75R /16.

cognitomotorsports.com is one good site to ckeck out- they have before and after pictures of all lifts including the 2-3 inch leveling kit.

Dont worry about being fresh on the site as i am quite fresh myself.I never knew anymore than you- just a week ago !

Thanks for the info Jesse. I took it to my local tire shop today and ''tried on'' a few tires. the 285's did make an improvement but not quite enough for me. the 305's actually fit with no rubbing when i turned the wheel...but i only had about an 1/8'' clearence and i know when im moving down the road an 1/8'' is not going to prevent rubbing. I am also cocerned about the 305 on the factory rim, the rim seems way to narrow for it. i am hoping by installing the ''green key'' part the 305's will work. the part is only $29 from my dealer but they want $380 to install it! if anyone has installed this part i would like to know how complicated it is to do yourself..i do have some mechanical abillity but i just bought the truck yesterday and am somewhat apprehensive about working on a $40,000 investment.
