Electric Fans on an 2004

I have an 04 Silverado that has a fan clutch set up. I was thinking about switching over to electric fans (Flex a Lite). Would I possibly be able to get the GM setup instead off an 05 and do it that way? I'd reallty like to free up some HP and in this heat we've been having my fan clutch is driving me nuts it's so loud.

Maybe, but you'd need to devise some way to control the fans since the '04 doesn't have that controlling function in the PCM.

the '05 e-fans fit a 34" radiator.... like is on the 6.0 trucks. I am running one on my C3 and using the PCM to control, along with a manual switch on the dash.

It doesn't? You'd better tell the guys that have their PCM running it that!

Are you saying a stock 04 PCM will controll the electric fans? (grounds pin 42). Seems odd that it would since that was not an option in 04.

I had my 04 pcm reprogrammed for that function and I have to add a wire to that pin.

What I meant was, it's not there waiting for you to install fans and they'll just work. Sure, you may be able to get the PCM to control it with programming and additional wiring.

I stand by the statement that the '04 PCM does not have that controlling function in it.
