I noticed my truck has some rust beginning on the left airhole on the front bumper. There is a bulletin for this targetting 03s and 04s. I talked to my dealer and was told they would need the truck for a day because to fix it properly they will take the bumper off. Has anyone had this done??? Take a good look at those airholes.....left long enough your front bumper will look like crap after the rust spreads. I am going to be out of warranty in a couple weeks so I am taking it in next week.

I bought some chrome polish at the local auto parts store to keep the rust away - anytime you have chrome on a vehicle sooner or later it's gonna rust. I polish out the chrome on my bumpers and on the chrome rocker panels every two or three months - no big deal.

Had this done on my '03 about a year ago.

They remove the bumper, sand/grind the rust and apply what appears to be a clear expoy coating on the inside of the bumper and that'll cure the rust. And yes, it takes a day to be done.

Anyone have the TSB so we can print it out and show it to the idiot dealers up here so they will fix it. Seems to be the only way things get done in my neck of the woods.

TSB #03-08-62-001B

I don't have the contents of the TSB. If someone's got access to Alldata, that number will give you the needed info. When I brought my truck in for this - March 10, 2004, the service mgr would not fix it but said I could call GM. I had to call GM directly and speak with some Customer Service rep. I patiently explained things, and provided them with the TSB number above. The rep called the service manager and 10 minutes later they agreed to fix as per the TSB. Excuse I got was they had never heard of this TSB ... but whatever, they fixed it and I have no rust.

Also - word of advice, don't get all heated up if they still refuse to deal with it. Call GM, speak with someone, provide the number and let them handle it. Worked for me, I'm still on good terms with the dealership.

Hey JimG, thanks for the info from all of us. I wonder if that TSB mentions 2005 models?. My dealer is the same way, in fact 3 dealers that I have been to are the same, dont seem interested in dealing with any TSB's. The excuse is "never heard of it."

Has anyone got access to Alldata so we can see this TSB? #03-08-62-001B..rust develops in air holes of front bumpers. I have to print this out to prove to dealer it actually exists and then I have to twist there arm to even look at it and then I pretty much have to scream to get it fixed.
