GM Remanufactured 4L60E or Rebuild?

My 95 Yukon transmission is gonna have to be replaced and I need something dependable to tow my camper with. After reading about other peoples headaches and breakdowns after rebuilds I'm considering forking over the $1800 for GM's remanufactured 4L60E. They come with a 3 year or 100,000 mile warranty, of course I have to install it. Are they worth the Money?

Yes, get the warranty. THAT is worth it. I wish the automotive arena would take a few pointers from the aviation world and have some better guidelines for 'rebuilt' parts. In aviation there are only two recognized terms, 'overhauled' and 'rebuilt'. Overhauled meaning: taken apart, cleaned, measured, inspected and put back together. Rebuilt means taken apart, cleaned, and all parts replaced so the finished product is up to 'new' specs or better. In the automotive world the terms 'reconditioned', 'rebuilt', 'overhauled', 'refurbished', etc get thrown around so much it's hard to tell what you're getting. To be safe, it's best to go with the OEM 'rebuilt' piece and get the warranty. Sorry to go on and on. That's just my two cents.

I would see if you could upgrade to a 4L80E. Better yet get one from a performance rebuilder such as the outfit listed below with beefier parts. Seems like this outfits products are virtually indestructible.

Will a 4l80E be a direct swap inton a 1500 truck??..............if it was that would be nice....
