New Brakes For Tahoe

Recommended Posts

Posted

It is time for new front brake pads for my 1997 2dr 4x4 Tahoe. I am wanting to increase my stopping power, and have been looking at Ceramic pads, and Heavy Duty pads. I have been told that the heavy duty pads tend to make noise, and I really dont want that. I plan on buying the pads locally, probally bendix, or Waggoners. I am looking for feedback from anyone who has made a improvment in thier trucks braking.

Was looking for info between the heavy duty pads and the ceramics. Such as stopping power, rotor wear, and overall performance. I also tow a 19 ft bass boat with the Tahoe.

For general replacement, I like Raybestos Ceramic, Napa Ceramic, and Wagner Thermocool Ceramic. All good braking, low dust, and decent rotor wear assuming not using cheap rotors.

If you want to spend more $$ for better braking, consider PraiseDyno Brakes. About the same price as Dealer replacement but significantly better braking IMO. They have a kit that not only makes the fronts a lot better but a spring kit for the rears makes a big improvement. On the OBS, it is also VERY important to have the rears properly adjusted regularly or the fronts end up doing all of the braking and performance and longevity take a beating.
