tahoe rear liftgate glass hinge

hey just wondering if any of you 2000-2006 SUV owners have had the hinge for the rear glass window crack and start to seperate. mine just started this on one side on my 01 tahoe, and i have been carefull with this as my friends 2000 Yukon had this same problem. both on the passenger side and i think his was starting to crack on the driver's side as well. if anyone has had this problem and fixed it i would love to know how. i have thought about epoxing around the cracks after alignment back to stock, but i am stumped. Thanks in advance.

My passenger side on my 2001 Tahoe actually broke. The rear window would not fully close after that. I took it to the dealer expecting a nice bill but was suprised when it was replaced free of cost under some "customer satisfaction campaign". So, now I have a 2001 Tahoe with a 2006 rear window (different design).

Take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix it. I am not 100% certain but believe there is a recal on this and if not, the dealers are aware of the problem.

I had a 2000 Yukon that had the same problem on both hinges. One dealer said I broke the window. I took it to another that was more open minded and they replaced the window at no charge.

Now I have a 2003 Yukon. Same thing happened only this time on only one side. I took it to the same dealer that said I broke the window (it is closer) and they immediately told me not to worry about it. That GM knows about this problem with the hinges. Window was replaced at no charge.

You may want to call your dealer in advance and explain the situation.

By the way, I close all of the doors, the rear gate and rear window extremely soft so I knew that I did not break it.

Good luck.

well i am glad i am not the only one with this problem. i'll give the dealership a call, but i have a feeling they will pull the "out of warranty" act as the truck has 125,000 miles on it. i have also always avoided using the glass part of the liftgate as much as possible, and closed it nice and soft. well i'll call my the dealer closest to me tommorow and go from there, thanks!!!
