1967 GMC pickup

So i have a 1967 GMC k-15. it currently has the straight 6 and 4 on the floor trany. i am wanting to do a motor and trany swap and need to know what is compatible before i buy it. i would like to find a v6 with a 6 speed trany (5 gears plus reverse) that will be a fairly easy swap. some one told me that an s10 motor and trany should bolt straight in but i dont want to get half way into it and find out it wont work. i would really appreciate any advice or ideas on this subject. since a 67 was avaialble with a small block and the 4.3 is nuthin but a sawed off version of the small block V8, it should be a no brainer to put a 4.3 in there.

 

If I remember right, to switch from a V8 to six on the older chevy trucks, you didn't even need different mounts becuase they were reversable to fit the six or 8 as needed.
