POWER SEATS are the DEVIL

I have an 03 Silverado. Both seats are stuck in the full fwd position. I checked the fuse and it was popped. I have since popped 3 new fuses and the seats still haven't reset. Why do the fuses keep popping if the seats are not moving. an dhow do I go any further if the fuse keeps popping?

Buy the 2 required sockets from a snap-on truck, remove the seats, and see what's wrong. Fix it.

Do the fuses pop as soon as you put them in? If so, it may be the switch is stuck in the forward position and there is a short in the wiring from the switch to the motor. If not, it may be the switch is stuck in the forward position and blows the fuse after pushing against the resistance of the forward stop. However, after re-reading your post, having it happen to both seats does sound kinda odd.

If it were a seat problem, it would be unusual to pop the fuse because the fuse is 50 amps which supplies a 30 amp circuit breaker after that specifically for the seats. The circuit breaker should open prior to the fuse blowing, though I suppose it's possible for the fuse to go.

 

Look under the seats for the main power feed to the seats. It's a relatively large red wire. They can be damaged by seat movement.

I'll give all the suggestions a try starting with the simplest. Thanx for the suggestions hopefully I won't have to bother anyone else.

my dad's 2003 silverado had an issue with power drain that would draw current from someplace and then leave the battery dead overnight. It turned out to be a switch on the power seat adjustment on the passenger side. The switch appeared to be in the normal position but it turned out to be engaged just enough to draw current but not to actuate the seat forward or rearwards.
