I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 2007 3500 SERIES 4 WHEEL DRIVE GMC TRUCK WITH THE 8100 SERIES VORTEC GAS ENGINE . IT HAS 800 MILES AND TRUCK KEEP GOING INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE, GM CALLS IT THE CRIPPLE MODE. GM TECK HAS REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, DROVE IT 40 MILES AND IT WENT INTO CRIPPLE MODE AGAIN. TODAY THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY MODULATOR? PLEASE ADVISE YOUR OPINION,

THANKS GLENN RIGGS

1. DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS, MAKES THINGS DIFFICULT TO READ!

2. Sounds like your dealer might be jerking you around and guessing what the problem is. Have they actually run the diagnostics on it? I'm guessing you have a different problem going on, perhaps bad fuel or a sensor?

"reduced power" can be caused by a bunch of different failures. No opinions here. The dealer needs to do the necessary diagnosis and find the problem. It may be intermittent and difficult to find, so they're just throwing parts at it. I won't say it's impossible, but it is highly unlikely that "bad gas" will cause this problem.

There is probably a code in there that will help direct them to the general area of the problem.
