No Key, door OPEN, stereo still on?

A few weeks ago I was out camping with the family, sitting around the campfire, listening to the stereo in my truck.

 

At first I had the key in the ACC position, door closed and tunes on.

 

Then I was able to have the key out (in my pocket), door open, and the stereo still on.

 

I can NOT reproduce this.

 

I can do this with the door closed, but as soon as I open the door, the stereo goes off as it was designed.

 

I remember messin' with the dome overide button to get this to work but I'm not sure what the magic sequence was.

 

Can anybody help?

I never knew that was possible...  maybe I'll mess around with my buttons and see if I can duplicate it

hmmm, that could be useful if it would work with the door open

I believe it has something to due with the domelight circuit.  There is  a RAP accessory circuit that automatically turns off the domelights if the door is open for 20 min. What I believe happens is after that 20 min. the truck does not know that the door is open.

Now that I think about it, I did have the key in - door shut for over 20 minutes before I had the key out and the door open. maybe that's the trick..........
