08 Dvd/nav Radio Unlock, Tech2 Didn't Work Help!

I have an 08 GMC Sierra CC which came with onstar/XM CD player, I'm doing a Navi upgrade and plugged in the head unit and got the standard 'theft lock' message. From all the info I came across with people doing this swapout they never mentioned any issues with having a dealer unlock the unit.

I however (just my luck) ran in to problems. When we hooked up the Tech2 to the truck, with the passthru to the computer, it wouldn't let us download the info to the truck, it would come up with an error after we hit next after selecting the Navigation Radio option. Can anybody give some feedback as to why this would error out, or what is needed to be done to get this thing to unlock?

i dont have any experience with the new nav units, but on the older ones, you dont program them even when there new... all you do is go into the tech 2 thn you find "navigation radio" then go into special functions and it should say somthing like radio setup, or theftlock or somthin like that... i put a nav unit from an escalade into a yukon and that was all i had to do...

Actually tried again to get this thing unlocked, had the same problem but this time the tech called the techline, and was told there needs to be a VCI code programmed, they gave him a VCI code but it would still error out for the tis2 or something. I guess their server isn't up to date to download VCI's to 08s yet... pretty lame if you ask me, but he says eventually they will have the programming updated. Does anybody know of a possible back door or other way to get this thing unlocked and load the VCI to my truck?

x2 what RayGMC said, I had the same problem and it took 3 different dealerships to do the unlock.

Also a middle figure in the air for the continued poor design choices from the General, not only for the un-needed theftlock nonsense, but also the try to lock in OE radio's to the function of the vehicles.

Go to a different dealer. I didn't have any trouble when I did it.

they told me that my truck does not support navigation system because i have UQ3 and not UQA(bose) and supposely thats why couldnt even unlock it. Im pretty sure there is a way because ive seen several single cab 07 and 08 silverados with oem navigation and they work perfect. PLEASE HELP!!!
