Gmt900 K1500 (07 Nbs) Autospring 2.5" Coil Spacers

Here's my take on the Autospring 2.5" coilspacers for the new new Silverado.

 

3 hour install time (including re-setting toe and clean-up) with air tools and a fair amount of experience doing this sort of thing. I had to seperate the upper ball joints and cut the very tip (un-threaded) portion of the upper studs just as instructed. Instructions were clear and included a suggestion to swap the right and left coil-overs for easier install. I did this and I think it made it harder since the lower mount isn't oriented correctly making it difficult to get the bolts up through.

 

The Autospring kit doesn't include some hardware that it should. First, the upper studs on the lift spacers are too short to re-use the factory nuts (which are very tall and flanged and only threaded near the top.) The kit comes with one set of new nuts but they must be used on the lower (factory) studs due to clearance issues. Second, I had trouble on re-assembly with the stupid factory sheet metal nuts used on the lower mounts of the coil-over units. They would just spin. Replace them with real nuts.

 

These Autospring spacers are steel and welded together. Quality seems fine and price was $85. Cheaper than the aluminum spacers but more than the rough country lower spacer. I didn't like the idea of spacing the lower mount and increasing the moment arm possibly busting one.

 

Results are a perfectly level truck and a great look. Ride seems slightly stiffer probably due to the suspension having less moment on the spring due to the increased angle. Alignment is same as before (after I adjusted toe-in.) Just need to re-aim headlights and the job is comlete.
