Has anyone had a problem programming the garage door opener to there truck? I am unable to get mint to work and when I called GM they gave me an 800 # to call the people that make the unit in the truck and they were unable to get it to work, but for $10 I could order some thing that would make it work. That sucks when you pay $27k for your truck you should be able to open a freaking garage door. :)

PS TGIF ; )

I found that it was very easy to program a rolling code opener to the truck but very difficult to program a non-rolling code opener (I have one rolling and 2 non at my place).

So which are you having a problem with (rolling or non-rolling code)???

I didn't have any problem with mine, I didn't even have to program it, it just knew. :) Kiddin'. What kind of garage door have you got? I thought it was fairly straight forward, but the procedure varies by door.

It’s a Genie and is pretty new..

I'm a garage door mechanic and the rolling codes gave me some problems as well. Its not very clear in the instructions, but you have to follow BOTH sets of instructions (for non-rolling AND rolling codes).

I'll give you a step by step just to give you an idea, you can fill in the rest from the instructions.

1) Clear the codes in the truck

2) Program the truck using the non-rolling instructions (Holding the remotes very close to the buttons in the truck)

3) After you get the truck programmed for the non-rolling, go ahead and program it for the rolling code now (Using the smart button on the operator and holding the button in the truck)

That should do it, but like I said just take the steps I gave you and compare them with your truck manual and it should be fairly easy to figure out. If you still have problems let me know.

I did my Geine last week. (That sounds porno...LOL :) ) It worked fine. Start with the garage door open. Push and hold the 3 buttons in the truck I think until they flash, you might check the owners manual on that.

Then go push the button on the opener motor and run back to the truck and push and hold the button in the truck that you wnat it to be. Hold the truck button until the door closes then let go. You're done! It took about 7 to 10 seconds for mine to find my code.

Just don't let go of the button in the truck until the door moves.

I'll add:

1. This could take as long as 30 seconds before the door moves when programming.

2. DO NOT repeatedly press the "learn" button on the genie motor without attempting to program a remote or letting enough time pass for the LED to stop flashing before pressing it again. Pressing it too many times in short period will erase ALL remotes from the motor (I did this at my dad's house by accident, so I got his car programmed but all other remotes tied to this opener were deleted and had to be re-programmed.

3. This one should be obvious: DO NOT park the vehicle under the door while programming (be completely in or out of the garage when programming).

Well I have done all that an still no luck :)

...Dang I just did mine and opened my neighbors door across the street. Just kidding. What did GM tell you to buy for $10? That would probably be cheaper for me then spending an hour trying to program the two systems.
