What Axles Are On My Truck?

I have a 1986 GMC K1500. What axles are on my vehicle if they are the stock axles? And are they decent axles or should I be looking to put some heavier axles if I plan on putting 33" tires. I will also be doing a little towing. Have a 17' boat, maybe once a week.

Count the bolts on the rear diff cover. If there is 10 you have an 8.5inch that may be kind of light, really light if you are going to throw lockers in. If there is 12 bolts you have an 8 7/8 inch axle. They are pretty tuff, or at least alot better. Nother like todays 9.5 11.5 and now even some 12.5 inch. Even with a ten bolt and big tires, as long as you are not going to be getting crazy you probally won't have issues.
