I've recently put new wheels and tires on my 07 nbs 2500 and i was wondering if theres any way to turn the tpms system off. The tire shop that mounted them for me told me they couldnt put the old sensors in the new wheels and was going tocharge me $200 a wheel for new sensors, so i didnt bother. Now the light is pissing me off PLEASE HELP

ebay has sets of them for $50.00+.

 

Call the dealer and find out what part number you need for your truck, as they are a bit different between years. I'm not sure if you having a 2500HD makes a difference?

 

my tire shop said that they are only $49/ea or so from the dealer. and since they didn't tell me they couldn't swap them until they already had the tires mounted, i will make them install them for free. i don't understand why they can't be swapped to new rims. makes no sense.

The sensors CAN be used in the new wheels, BUT the stem must be replaced. My tire shop also had trouble figuring out what to do and I ended up buying an entire new set of sensors/stems from the GM dealer down the street. I paid $45/each for them. I found out later the stems are available for $8 each. Discount Tire has them in stock.

 

Oh well, I now have a spare set of sensors (less stems).

OK so how do I know if my TPMS is working? I just bought a 2005 Sierra 1500. Its supposed to have TPMS. I can see where the "idiot" light is supposed to be but when I turn the Key on it doesnt light up. Also I have been told that its supposed to allow me to see tire PSI's in the DIC. Thank in advance for your help.
