Rear Brake Shoes

Had the oil changed recently at a local trusted garage... They called me over to show me the inspection window for the rear brakes and pointed out that the shoes on both sides were very thin for only having 10,000 mi on the truck? They suggested I have the dealer take a look.

I sold my '95 silverado to get this truck and at 12yrs old and 140K miles the rear shoes were still fine! I threw new shoes in only because the rear seals were pretty shot and did the whole thing at once, but the shoes themselves had more meat on them than these do now?

Am I missing something here? Did shoes get thinner because they weren't wearing out fast enough for the service guys or something?

Thanks in advance for any info...

I pulled the drums off my '08 with 4K when I changed wheels and the shoes were so thin I thought they must be dragging, but spinning the wheel showed they weren't. I've had the same experience with other trucks not wearing the rear shoes much, too, so this was a surprise to me.

I've got a 1998 GMC(95,000miles) that I recently looked at the other day and they were perfectly fine but I'm going to look at my 2008 Silverado shoes to see what they look like...
