2007 Denali Door Handle Problems?

outside chrome door handles.

 

1st the driver's side, then the pass side two months later. They didnt brake completely off. Seems like the front part of the handle brakes loose at where it connects with the door. When you need to open the door, the front part of the handle will pull out and away from the door about 1 inch or so.

 

Fairly new truck that gets the red carpet treatment. Must be a bad design by GM. The dealer repaired the 1st handle under warranty, so I guess I'll be making another trip to see them. sucks though.

mine just broke this afternoon...same thing you are describing....driver door...I'll be calling dealer in the morning and picking up a replacement.....

maybe the chrome ones from gm would be stronger just a thought... instead of plastic and they would look nice..

 

EDIT: N/m Trav 13 had the handles and if his broke they must not be any stronger....

Ditto. I had the rear drivers side come loose, I thought it was fluke or the kids were being to rough. I just hope the one they replaced it with is stronger or they fixed the problem. Not feeling to cozy about the future at this point as far as these door handles are concerned.

yeah I got the GM Handles, and the new one is here....doesn't look any better either....probably ought to buy an extra set here in the near future as I am sure I'll be out of warranty when it breaks again.....

The ones that broke did they come stock on the truck or did u buy them from GM and install them into the truck?

I bought them from GM and installed them myself.....I had the painted handles before like you do on your truck. I was careful not to overtighten them so I don't know what the deal is.....

my Chrome handles are stock on my 2007 Denali.

 

Stopped by the Dealer today. part is on backorder. Backordered since the beginning of the month.

 

The rep said he is seeing lots of handles do the same thing. But he hasn't seen any replaced ones brake again so far. The part os coverd under standard warranty.

 

He also said that all Dealers are having problems getting all parts because of the GM layoffs and stuff.

I had the right rear handle break on my 07 SD also. I don't think I had opened that door a dozen times before it broke.
