Blowing Left Trailer Turn Light Fuse

I have a 2000 Coleman pop-up trailer. Recently I noticed that the left turn signal on the trailer only would not work. I checked and the 10 amp fuse in my 2004 GMC Yukon XL (the one under the hood) and it was blown. I also checked in the fuse box in the passenger compartment and it was blown also (the right was OK). THEN I noticed the same problem with my 2008 GMC Acadia - but here it was only on the under hood fuse. I changed it out and hooked it up to another trailer and all was well. As soon as I hooked up to the coleman - blown fuse. Experimenting I went all the way up to 20 amps fuses - all blown instantly. Both vehicles have Prodigy brake controllers - any ideas? I know it must be a vagary with the trailer, but I am at a loss what would pull so much amperage.

You have dead short someplace, especially if it blows a 20 amp fuse instantly. Do not keep using bigger fuses or the place where the short is will melt and burn. Check all the wiring that is associated with the turn signal side on the trailer and make sure there is not a bare wire touching the metal someplace.

 

The only wire that should connected to the trailer frame is the ground and I have noticed this wire to usually be white, but not in all cases.
