I loved Jimmie Johnsons win

I liked it when they kept talkin about "Robert Yates Horsepower", and didn't think Johnson could stay in the lead  :sarcasm:

Poor ole Fords just couldn't catch'em

I don't like JJ, so it didn't matter to me.  I was hoping for the caution free ending to see who caculated the gas right.  JJ was 6 or 8 laps short.  I kinda thought Waltrip was gonna end up with it, if it had went green.

Seeing as I actually got to watch a race since it was so wet out, I enjoyed it.  I was rooting so hard against Johnson it was unbelievable.  After it became clear my man Ward was out of it, I started cheering on Elliot, man that guy had some tough luck all day, but to come back and finish fourth was pretty amazing.

I can't stand Johnson at all, I'm hoping Newman will get the ROTY honors come the end of the season.

I was glad to see him win.  I figured he would win this season, but didn't really expect it this soon.  It's always good to see a first time winner.

I don't care who the driver is,,, as long as it is a Chevy, I'm rooting for them.

Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Pontiac, IMO its all a moot point anymore.  I pick a guy I like and cheer for him, I could care less what make he's driving.

Not me.  If it had been Gordon, Junior, or any other Chevy,,,,  I would have been rooting for them

I don't see how you can drive a Chevy and root for Dale Jarrett, or the other way around

Easy.  I can't stand Jeff Gordon.  So therefore I can't root for him.  I don't like Jimmie Johnson so I can't root for him.

Heck my favorite driver is Rusty Wallace (of course I started liking him when he drove a Pontiac).  I'm loyal to drivers, not the cars they drive.

To me rooting straight manufacterer all the time no matter who is driving them is the same concept as voting straight ticket in an election no matter what the canidates actually stand for or believe.  It makes no sense.

Why do you guys hate JJ?  Personally I think its just a bunch of anti-gordon people that dont like JJ because he is tied in with Gordons Team.  I'm curious to see the reasons why...

I thought it was great to see JJ win!

For me, its because he's in a race for ROTY with Ryan Newman.  I'm rooting for Newman because he earned an engineering degree from Purdue, another Big Ten school with a high caliber engineering program like that of Illinois's here that I'm in.  Shows me that he has a head on his shoulders in addition to being a good driver.

That about somes it up for me.

I don't like any of the Hendrick drivers.  But I do have to say that I like JJ better than any of them.  If he didn't run for Gordon and Hendrick I probably wouldn't mind him, but I still wouldn't root for him over Newman.

And kinda what JP said too.  I'm a Newman fan, so I don't want JJ beating him for ROTY.

All that talk of Robert Yates horsepower pisses me off.  Especially when the keep talking about it has a GM car is pulling them down the straightaways.

As for rooting for a GM if my favorite drivers aren't up front, I probably fit into that catagory.  Other then the 24 and 48, I root for the GM car that is up front to beat the other makes.  There is only a couple Ford cars I don't mind winning (21,2 because he is an old school driver,12), but I still want the GM's up front to beat them.  I'd also say its fairly safe that my three favorite drivers won't be switching brands anytime soon either.

And those that think rooting for the brand does not make any sense, I disagree.  I come from a family that raced GM based dirt late models in northern Kansas and southern Nebraska for almost 10 years.  So coming from a family that has raced GM's, I have a reason for rooting for the GM cars.

LOL - JJ and Newman both are showing great promise.  So far, it looks like they'll be around for a while.

The Chevy's have been short in the win column this year, glad it is turning around  ;)
