Cd player error

Recommended Posts

My factory unit did stuff like this when it was cold out. The colder, the worse it got. It would skip (like it was a bad CD), stop, and eject the disc with the ERR message. After the unit was warmed up enough, it would play just fine.

They're not quality units in my opinion. It's possible yours really is toast, but I think that there's probably something that's gumming up the works in these things. :seeya:

You should be able to pick one up off Ebay or similar if you don't want to go through the trouble of upgrading your whole system.

The CD player in my 99 Suburban will not play CD's now and shows ERR when I put one in. Is it toast? It is the slave unit mounted below the head unit.

Thanks

Go to "Tower Records", "Sam Goodies", etc and buy a laser cleaner disc and a cd cleaner package. My CD player did the same thing and using the laser cleaner solved the problem in less than a minute! The CD cleaner works on CDs as well as DVDs that skip.

Good Luck!
