  1. Think this is the heart of the matter. As someone who often staked my faith in the manufacturer and their intervals, I’ve been on both sides of the issue. But these days…when a manufacturer tells you who they are, you gotta believe them. Especially as we get pushed toward EVs. They have no reason to help you make your current vehicle last forever. The fox is guarding the henhouse. When I bought my current truck I was immediately suspicious. It has a ZF transmission that’s used in a ton of applications. In those applications, ZF typically recommends transmission service at 60,000 miles or 8 years. But Ram? They say it’s lubricated for life. If they mean for the life of the transmission, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Hell, everything can be “lubed for life” if you don’t expect it to last very long. If I never change the oil in my lawnmower and it blows up in 3 years, it was indeed lubed for life! Never mind that maintenance could extend said life by 10 fold. More on point with engine OCIs…I did a UOA recently to gain some insight. By most measures my oil was spent. Yet the OLM indicated 34% life remaining, which could have amount to another 2k miles. Really?

  5. So, GM got involved and the local dealer contacted me and set up an appointment. Yesterday, I had it in for service. They couldn't duplicate (not surprised!) nor were there any codes found. They applied Bulletin #22-NA-169 to update the step control module. We wait and see. BTW, the same issue has happened when pass. door is opened and drivers door opened seconds later. This was prior to the update, so we'll see if it fixed the issue.

  7. Got around to throwing this Carbon Creation hood on. Kinda like it, kinda too much. Definitely can’t drive it in the rain tho. The vent is right above the air filter.

  8. I hear you. The golden years are here. I do, drive, go where I want. But I believe Grumpy deal was I’m going to figure this out. Not a need to for economic situation. Otherwise add oil and go. Obviously spending more money than just adding oil. Hence my reason for the information.

  12. I would be calling Rough Country and ask them, they are engineers, the installers are just (apparently people with wrenches) that don't really know better. I would also call the school district you attended and ask why you weren't taught that proper nouns (Rough Country) get a capital letter in each word that forms their name, like YOUR name does. Poor spelling (in the age of "Spell Check) and incorrect spelling of names (proper nouns) makes the author look uneducated. There are those that think that proper use of your native language isn't important so long as you get the message through; well some disagree. In this age of free and easy to obtain software that will help you spell and punctuate correctly there is no excuse for poor use of poor or incorrect writing. I wish all could show that they attended school, their parents cared about them and their education, as did they. When WE post messages with wrong spelling, wrong punctuation, bad grammar WE look uneducated; how do you wish to impress people?
