  1. just have cell for that so no pics or clips, went on highway today no problems.
  2. UPDATE ON GIBSON: The cat back stainless steel extreme dual version was $459.00 shipped at autoanything with my last coupon, After running it for a while I did not like the v4 warble as the muffler sits sguarly between cab and box on crew cab. I got a 12 x 20 piece of light gauge aluminum rolled the edges 1/2 inch and wrapped it with header wrap. Used three hose clamps and secured it to the Gibson muffler on top. Had to form the sides with a wood vise to bend around the muffler a little prior to clamping. Got rid of most of the in cab warble from the v4 and quieted the rest down in cab by a little. Well pleased with the results and with windows down or in between walls so you can hear it sounds great, Fulll throttle or just running up to speed is a real nice tone. V4 above 50 mph is negligable and below 50 easily ignored even in back seat. Removal (actually gutting) of third cat has not shown up as anything negative, no lights etc. so figure the reduced back pressure is a good thing, averaging 18mpg on 25 mile commute with mild grades and 60-70 speeds, can get 21 if I want to granny it. No road trips yet for highway mileage.
  3. Saw elsewhere that the third cat was basically a concession to calif. epa and of no use beyond that. while I had exhaust off just drilled into the ceramic and broke it up and removed it and all the asbestos looking outer wrap, ended up just a mini expansion chamber, Started truck with it cleaned out and exhaust removed just for sound check and to blow out any remaining debris that may have gotten into pipe from my work, actually not very loud the two cats do quiet it down a lot, re-installed oem exhaust and drove for a day while my gibson arrived, sound was not much different than stock. Put the Gibson on last night (only have cell phone to video so no sense trying to post). Idle sound real good, v8 mode in all ranges sound real good also, not raspy and better than the video gibson puts out about it on you tube, V4 mode is noticable easily whenever it switches over to it, at low speeds it sounds like a V8 in V4 mode more noticable to the back seat occupants, over 60 it is easy to tell if its in v4 but not as noticeable and easily ignored. Still quiet in the cab a cruise on the highway and nice throaty tone when getting up to speed and kicking it down. Over all first 100 miles of it I like it more than not, the oem exhaust was to quiet and this sounds great, mixed feelings on the v4 mode sound, wish it was selectable to turn on or off as the range module is stupid expensive for what it does. Wonder about engine longevity with the v4 mode also. UPDATE: pulled battery cable to let engine reset and hopefully recalibrate for the exhaust, When last updated at Dealer took a while to get back to regular mileage etc. will post after a few hundred to see how it turns out.
  4. mine finally arrived today dual extreme gibson for the 5.3 will put on tomorrow if weather permits, I did gut the third cat out today in preperation though so, non-gutted pup-cat may sound different.
  5. tried that antenna myself but it broke off first car wash, (forgot to remove) seemd to be ok on reception but after seeing how radio works with no antenna not sure it is much of an improvement.
  6. Funny thing about mine I thought the reception was on par with others but now am not to sure. Was interested in putting an aftermarket mast on the truck for looks only. Removed the old one got called to an urgent need and didnt put it back, figured I would put it back on way to work. Long story short drove in listening to pandora got bored and wanted to catch weather and news, put on FM same reception as it was with an antenna, picked up hd which fluttered at same spots on the road and aside from AM could tell no difference in stations I listen to with or without antenna. That would seem to proove out antenna is pretty weak at best, now I wonder what it would be like with one that actually works for fm, dont really care about am dont use it.
  7. Alright an update, had the previous mentioned ATS fix done to my drivers seat, the addition of super lube has seemed to eliminate the stick than release when the seat moves so the movement while still there is not readily noticed, for my pickyness it is not really fixed but it is tolerable untill it warms up enough for me to mic the frame where the clips mount and make up some two piece clamps to put on either side of the outer clips on both seats. But it did for the most part make it an easy to ignore movement. No sudden jerk or snap as it breaks free as it did before.
  8. has any of you gutted or removed the third cat with your cat back system? Have the gibson kit coming wanting to gut the cat before installing unless it creates a problem, posted this earlier with my gibson info but moderator saw fit to move where no one goes or see it, wtf
  9. On Tuesday brought the earlier mentioned pdf about this issue on the seats in the ATX to the dealer two copies printed in color. Said this is exactly what my seats do (now both of them) I would like tech to attempt this fix if he could. Service manager read through procedure noted gm part numbers for lubricant, shims and clip and scheduled me for today at 7:30am to have it done, dropped truck off left got picked up by wife went to breakfast all that stuff, came back. Service manager said we just looked we dont have any of the stuff needed to do this to your truck, will order it and reschedule....a bit frustating but at least they are making an attempt.
  10. The rear on the oem setup drooped lower than the shock allowed when hanging on jackstands same with the 3 1/2 blocks, off the stands shock was compressed about 3 1/2 inches with no load in the box so while it may extend all the way on severe one wheel dips it would do that even with the stock spring setup. just not as quick. So no I don't think its necessary to change unless going off road a lot and want the articulation, a crew cab isn't much for trails so I think it will be fine.
  11. installed 2 inch strut top spacer with 1/2 inch bottom spacer and 3 1/2 blocks in rear.
  12. Not sure if it as widespread as some think, I will be dropping the xm as soon as runs out so have been using fm a lot, mine woorks as well if not better than all the others I have had in the past, I am 45 miles from my favorite fm station at home and with some radios reception suffers rapidly when I get further away, this truck picks it up well past 60 miles and the hd radio stays past 50 miles easily.
  13. Prickly would best describe me sorry. Just irritates me as it does the shift clunk thing on way into work parking lot and my driveway every time, so just before I get out of it every time it happens.
  14. yes above ats instructions mirror my concerns exactly, last dealer stop for recall update said seat was fine could not duplicate, printing these instructions out and bringing to them next week, we shall see. Guess I'm just to picky as others have said.
  15. mine switches out fairly seamlessly now with 7800 miles on it, lower speeds seem to make it more noticable. Can't give it to much gas without it going back to V8 mode do it stays in V8 most of the time. Mileage is a little better than my other trucks were and if I try will get a lot better but fun suffers than.
  16. If you would read the thread you would see its where the mechanism attaches to frame that has the movement. There were some early cushion cover movement thoughts as you reference, but they seemed to be in the minority and adding extra clips did not fix the movement as it wasn't the cushion. GM sourced the seats did not build them as most manufacturers do.
  17. Getting rid of the truck is last on my list. Fixing it myself is probably worse case hate to do that considering it should be GM doing the fixing. Still really like the truck, replies like that from customer service really do GM and me an employee of them a great disservice. The seat issue is a real concern (giving you an unsafe feeling while driving) . Lighted knobs, my nav prompt volume not so much. Lack of response or one such as jonathan and his twin Jenny put out are on the par with condescension and show lack of training, empathy, or just plain un-smartness.
  18. Perhaps one of our customer service lurkers would pipe in and say there is or isnt a solution being worked on. My dealership seems reluctant to replace the frame so far and as that seems short term dont blame them.
  19. hate to see this thread so far back in the pecking order makes it appear its a limited issue. Mine is still moving and seems worse every day. Not sure if bringing back to dealer is worth it untill there is a permanent fix identified. Plan on reviewing it myself as soon as ths darn cold snap goes away and I can remove seat entirely. JD any chance of a picture of one of your clip, clamp installations? Thinking of finding out bar diameter and milling a two piece clamp out of aluminum.
  20. well after a few thousand clunk shift free miles I hate to say it, but seat clunk, shift whatever is back, Will ring the dealer up after the holidays expect it to keep getting worse, curious why no fix yet. I was the one who also posted about the nylon washer shim bushing type fix that seemed to be working. short term unfortunately.
  21. Bakflip F1 folds all the way up to cab if needed, Got up thursday morning to 14 degrees, 10 min warm up and drove 265 miles no complaints from back seaters about being cold at all, actually had the ask to lower the temp. running 72 on auto climate
  22. As of today 200 miles since this fix, no clunk, shift or slop apparent in my seat. Hesitate to call it cured at this early date but its definately gone, will be fixing myself if it returns unless parts fubared. IMHO this is a quality issue with seat mfg who is not GM maybe Johnson Controls? But appears its fixable and replacement will just delay its re-occurance unless redesign or tighter tolerance spec.
  23. JD just going by the techs description said the long arms going to the back needed bushings and the motor washers so not sure which one he said lifting motor is all I know. Could have been just washers in all places not actual bushings. If it loosens up again I will see whats there.
  24. believe the cameras are the same but the lens on the trucks is a different angle to see bumper for hitch and behind you, a trade-off to do both. At night with lights your backing toward on blacktop driveway pretty much useless, but hooking up the trailer great. I use the mirrors pretty much as I back in all the time so its not big deal. Would rather have the trailer hookup views than better backing view.
  25. Went to Lyons in Lewisburg Tn today, tech removed lift motor and bracket said holes were oversized causing looseness, installed nylon bushings from who knows where and as of trip to home and into work about 60 miles total no clunk or shift or whatever way you want to describe it. Will update post after long trip over the holidays or before if it returns but for now appears fixed.
