  1. Ya I never cared for kits because of the cost. I just took mine to a local shop that are good with exhaust and all they did was order the Flowmaster Super 44, tailpipes and tips. Even with install it's a fraction of the cost of most kits and then you have to put it on. Also with a shop any good shop can do exactly what you want while with a kit you have to hope you find it at least close to how you want it. I didn't touch anything in front of the muffler. Of course if you want manual bend you will have to pay more, but I don't worry about that unless it's a performance car like a Camaro or Mustang.
  2. where does it rub? and have you done any trimming? edit: and I think a black bowtie would be perfect. Either a black bowtie or if you're willing to pay more by buying new emblems instead of just painting the existing ones get aluminum color match emblems front and rear (if the rear emblem is still there). The site I got my emblems from they are well made aluminum and they come in all color match colors. You also can get just the insert (just the part that is gold in the factory emblem) or the fill emblem. I did the full on the front and just the insert on the rear. https://www.autoextras.com/Chevrolet-Silverado-1500-s/1257.htm?searching=Y&f-year=5317&f-make=3576&f-model=1257
  3. Ha I didn't realize til you shortened up the name that it also said SS. And no problem. I'm pretty sure that's all the dealer did.
  4. Without disconnecting the battery I know you reset them by putting it on the tire pressure page and then hold the select button (middle button with a check sign on the right of the steering wheel) until it resets (you'll hear a beep). You have to do it everytime you rotate the tires and of course when putting new tires on. Just for future reference.
  5. My rule of thumb on that is that if you alter or replace a part that is part of the suspension or steering then it should be realigned.
  6. The one you received just looks to be maybe an older style or design. What does the materials feel like? The ones you expected isn't plastic, but feels kind of like a plastic. As said, it looks like it does the same thing and the fitment guide for it says it fits from 07-present 1500s so it should fit. Maybe someone sent you an older kit.
  7. If you think about it, if you have your highs on close enough to where you're blinding someone else then it's because of the high beams, not fogs. On lows the fogs mainly help light up the area closer to the truck. I also figure that if it's a situation where I need or want the highs on then fogs on with highs is an added plus. As said, you're still able to turn the fogs on and off with the lows like normal. The only thing the mod does is add fogs with the highs. I also did the mod where the cargo lights on the 3rd brake light come on with reverse just to get a little extra light while backing up without installing anything aftermarket and it works good enough. I haven't had any problems with the electrical system. The diodes just act as a one way valve so it's safe from how I look at it. I've also read that people just use a wire for the cargo light mod so their reverse lights also come on when you turn on the cargo lights which I may change out the diode with a wire one day.
  8. I use Mobil oil and filter too, but I took mine in Friday for the tire rotation and oil change. I never let anybody do something I can do myself, but I figure I might as well use the 2 year service warranty lol. I did check to make sure the drain plug was tight from hearing stories of people not tightening them enough.
  9. From what I've noticed when looking up leveling and lift kits is that they give the same exact part numbers for both steel and aluminum. Some places don't even require you to pick which one you have.
  10. I used to put 35, but it seems low for a full size heavy truck. I usually keep it about 38-40 cold.
  11. If you have a smartphone (at least Android) then go to the very bottom on the browser on the site and hit the "full version" button. That will take it to what it would look like from a regular computer so you'll see the sig.
  12. Maybe you need your woman's help to get it in the hole... jokin lol. The way I found easy was to stick the leds in the corner of the square of the harness. Slides right in and stays in. But, you have to make sure it's in there pretty far or it won't stay in that good..If you can't get it right after trying that then you might have bought diodes that were too big.
  13. Ya they make the rims look like the OEM 16s that were on my 98 lol. But, I like tire sidewall so even if I lift my current truck I'll keep the rim size at 18. Seems like sidewall on a truck is going out of style, even on lifted trucks lol. I don't even like low pros on a car.
  14. Ya I wouldn't do the spray on chrome, looks more like spray paint tin foil or something. Only chrome that looks good is actual chrome, not spray paint and not plastic chrome.
  15. Steel is black and aluminum is the natural color silver grayish. I just used a magnet though, steel it sticks and aluminum it won't.
  16. Just used a couple diodes today and yesterday, Yesterday I did it so the cargo lights come on with reverse. Today I did it so the fogs come on with the high beams. Still wish it was a quick or easy way to make it so the fogs aren't turned off when turning on the high beams.
  17. I'm wondering now if there's a way to just cancel out whatever tells the fogs to turn off when you turn on the highs. If there's a way to do that then you'll be able to use them with highs like you do with lows, just turn on when you want them to without doing anything automatically. Just a thought.
  18. Ok thanks, I'll do that tomorrow. I just like options where the fogs don't come on automatically and I can just turn it on or off with highs. I guess if I need highs then fogs with highs would be even better rather I want the fogs on or not so not a huge deal as I said before. I already did the cargo lights on with reverse earlier today.
  19. Just checked it out tonight and through the camera and I love it. Was hoping for a little more light for the camera, but it's still much better without having to add aftermarket lights.
  20. I just did it and works perfectly. Haven't tried to see what it looks like through the camera at night, but I'll look at it later tonight. I have the extra diode so I may try the fogs on with high beams tomorrow.
  21. Maybe I missed it while looking through. Is there a way where the fogs don't automatically come on, but just gives me the option of turning them on with the high beams? If I have to I'll connect it so they come on with the highs, I just prefer to just have it as an option to let me turn them on with highs.
  22. Problem is that you're talking about your personal preference. Not everybody will want the fogs on as DRLs. For me I would only want them as an added option with low beams or DRLs in case I wanted more like without turning on high beams, like foggy (of course) or raining hard. I thought about the mod, but so far I haven't needed fogs on at the same time as the high beams so I won't worry with it. Either way I would want the option to turn them off or on. I mean really it's just the push of one button so it's not a big deal for me.
  23. I have Nfabs on mine and they're powder coated. You can also get them with a textured finish from them, but not sure if it's bedliner materials or what it is. Both finishes was also the same price.
  24. Understandable about the blind spots, but I just bought a couple stick on blind spot mirrors and they work well lol. As for a lifted truck, I haven't had a lifted truck yet so I don't know. If I do get a lifted truck it will be just as a play truck and also an older truck without a computer and already have a solid front axle. An older truck will probably have bigger mirrors also. Like I always say, it's not my money so people can do what they want to their truck. I'm just not one of those people that follow a group unless I find it usefull or I like it. So I'd only get tow mirrors if I'm actually going to use them.
