  1. Not bad, still wish it were lighter. I used to have a heavily modified 4th gen that was an autocross/HPDE car. I lightened it by 200# and that made a huge difference. Actually being just above mid 3,000 lbs is real close to what the 1st gen weighed. That's not bad considering all of the extra stuff that new cars have.
  2. I hated that mine sounded like a Prius and that you barely heard anything at WOT. When I had the Flowmaster Super 44 put on it a little grin gets on my face anytime I drive it, especially around town. Before the exhaust I drove it like grandpa and got good mileage out of the truck, since the exhaust I lost a couple MPGs around town and I drive it more like I used to drive lol. I didn't get the JR kit, just the MIT tube and I don't think it helped with throttle response, but it sure cleans the engine bay up and makes it easier to get to everything.
  3. Even though I haven't driven a newer Camaro except for parking one at the dealership I used to work at, as long as it has a rear backup camera I would be fine since I'm used to using just my side mirrors and don't use the rearview mirror on the windshield. Ever since I got my CDL the only time I've used my rearview mirror on the windshield is if I'm keeping an eye on someone in the back seat.
  4. I had everything from the muffler back removed and had a Super 44 single in /dual out put in. Never heard of a better sounding truck and is loud as hell but being a quiet cab it doesn't drown out the music when in the cab.
  5. Some people are calling it both the 3rd cat and resonator like it's the same. There's a 3rd cat towards the front behind the other 2 cats and then the resonator is basically a 2nd muffler that you see at the rear axle. I left my 3rd cat on but had the stock muffler and everything behind it taken out. If you want it louder then get the resonator taken out. I may take my 3rd cat out one day but it's no rush since my truck is plenty loud and I don't think removing the 3rd cat would do much.
  6. I drive autos with 2 feet and never had that problem. I also let me left foot kind of rest right beside the brake pedal when not using it. If I'm around town I'll hover the foot over the brake pedal.
  7. Rather it was my 86 Chevy Custom Deluxe C10, 98 Silverado, this '14 Silverado, my mom's 98 Stratus or 06 Impala and all of the commercial trucks I've driven I've never had a problem with pedal location.
  8. I've never had that problem, but I've also tried out trucking and done local delivery so I'm used to both of my legs moving all the time. Especially when I was trucking and drove in the mountains. I even drive an auto with 2 feet even though some people will try to tell me I probably ride the brake and all that when I don't. I've also never had adjustable pedals. The seat moves more than you may know so try the seat in other positions.
  9. I just ended up buying a slightly smaller can that fit under there in the storage. The one I had was too big. Plus the one I did have the nozzle was a design where you can't store the nozzle in the can when not in use and that would have been sticking out towards the engine if I did what you suggest. And I wouldn't keep the nozzle off without some kind of cap to keep debris from collecting in the can.
  10. I have a single in/dual out Super 44 on my truck and had them remove everything from the muffler back (stock muffler, resonator and tailpipe) and it sounds really good and is very loud. It does have the V4 drone because I don't have the flapper valve anymore, but it's not that bad. To me it just sounds like an engine brake/jake brake on an 18 wheeler which I actually like and don't mind. I didn't touch anything in front of the muffler so I kept the 3rd cat, but I may remove it later on.
  11. The other week something happened that made em glad I have 18s instead of 22s or even 20s. I was on a road in front of Walmart on the completely other side on the back end of the parking lot and someone almost ran into me going the other way So the only thing I could do was swerve and the front right tire hit the curb. Luckily having 18s I didn't get any damage on the rims, just curb rash on the tire.
  12. I had a K&N intake kit on my 98 for most of the 10 years that I owned it and never had it give problems. The main problem is if it's over oiled that it will mess up the MAF sensor. I did have to replace mine but it was years after installing the K&N so I can only assume it was just normal old age, not the K&N. Again, I think the ones having a problem with K&N was that the filter was over oiled from the factory and they didn't care or think to check it.
  13. You need a reset tool which you have to use even after rotating the tires. I plan on buying one after the 24,000 mile maintenance warranty runs out. The tire place might have one but if not just go by a dealer and maybe they won't charge just for a TPMS reset. Only takes a couple minutes.
  14. I think the problem with the filter is the fact that it's a "performance" filter where it's either oiled or a dry filter. From my experience an oiled filter isn't going to do anything as long as it wasn't over oiled and I think that's what happens to people that have something go wrong where the filter was over oiled from the factory and they didn't check it. Also a dry filter I've read doesn't catch everything since it still allows more air through without using anything (like oil) to help catch everything. Of course they will still have to prove that the filter is what did the damage, but just saying that he didn't add a regular paper filter so it was mentioned. If he just had a regular paper filter in the stock box then nothing would have been said. Also he said he had a dealer install the K&N kit so it's covered under warranty anyways.
  15. Love mine, but since getting Weston Wheel to Wheel steps on my 98 I had to also go for the bed access for this one. Mine are powdercoated though and so far the steps have held up great when I've banged them on a concrete curb, different one on each one. Of course it scrapped up the powdercoat but didn't hurt the bars at all. They're also much sturdier than the Weston 3" tube once I had on my 98. My 400 lb friend can attest to that lol.
  16. If a dealer installed the K&N then it should be covered under warranty. Even if a dealer installs big things like a lift then it's also covered. Did you mention that to them? Good that it's taken care of though. By the way, the dealer could have done better with a rental. The dealership I used to work we would do as much as putting a dealer tag on a used vehicle as a rental if need be for a customer that had their vehicle in service.
  17. I don't know about GoRhino but most places won't charge you until it ships out. Some on the other hand will charge you right away to get the money right away.
  18. Don't have a Corsa but I did have a Flowmaster Super 44 put on and I also left the 3rd cat in (had everything from the muffler back taken out). Removing it I don't think does much if anything to the sound. They just put that on for all to be Cali legal. It's not a big deal to keep it in. Now if I was building a sport truck then ya I would remove it, but using as a daily driver and nothing crazy then it's not a big deal. Even with the 3rd cat my truck is very loud and I love it lol.
  19. No it's not that thank God. I'm sure you've heard an exhaust brake on an 18 wheeler or other commercial truck going down a hill or mountain. That's what it sounds like. Some people say it sounds like a helicopter but I think it sounds like an exhaust brake. Look up diesel exhaust brake on Youtube or more specific just silverado exhaust drone.
  20. The drone is when the engine goes into V4 mode which is AFM (Active Fuel Management). It sounds like an 18 wheeler's exhaust brake/jake brake. So it sounds different while in V4 mode and that sound is the drone. It doesn't bother me but some hate it. The flapper valve behind the muffler in the stock system is what helps that.
  21. [rolleyes] It's true though. You need some back pressure and with a stock V8 the best is either a single 3" or dual 2 1/2".
  22. Well tonight something happened that made me so glad I have 18s and not 20s or 22s. I was in the right lane on a 5 lane road in town (2 lanes in each direction and center turning lane) and someone was beside me and decided to all of a sudden hug the dotted line so I moved over to avoid them and I hit the curb. I was going to Lowe's so when I parked I looked and no curb rash at all. I know if I had 20s and especially 22s that I would have had curb rash. The only good thing that would have come out of that is giving me a reason to get aftermarkets, but when I do that I'm still getting 18s anyways lol. By the way, the alignment seems to be good thankfully.
  23. Since your's is red I would get the 1st one with the machine look. But, if you eventually want to take all of the chrome off and have black accents then get the all black rims.
  24. I did the CRC GDI IVC treatment today with about 11,500 miles on the truck. I don't feel any real difference so maybe the valves weren't that bad. I made sure to follow the directions on the can so I know I did it right. I also did plenty of driving after the 1 hour head soak so I also know I did enough driving. If anything it gave me a piece of mind because I know it works from the comments on here. The can did say to do it every 10,000 miles, but I still may get a catch can in the future. If I do get a catch can I'll do the CRC GDI treatment before installing it. By the way, mine came with a tag that said to send it in with the receipt and they'll send a $5 rebate. Not much, but will give a little bit of that money back for the cost of a stamp.
  25. I'm in northeast NC and even though if it gets below 0 it's only overnight and for 2-3 days at the most and rarely gets a high in the single digits, but around here the weather can literally change from day to day. 1 day it can be 40 as a high and the next it will have 75 as a high. The weather in this part of the country is just bi-polar (like me) lol.
