so i am about to do my FXR 3.0 install on my 14 silverado and i noticed i have some condensation inside my headlights. i wasnt planning on baking and opening up my headlights but is that the only way to clean that up? also are the majority of people doing the typical D2S ignitor route, or are people using the amp ignitors- 3,363 replies

HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit

wow... just like a previous postyer my head hurts from reading about 30 pages today on this... So i have a 14 silverado with projectors.. yes they are terrible.. i want to install the fxr 3.0 projectors and would like to do the least amount of drilling possible. i reached out to TRS and this is the kit they recommended: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/complete-retrofit-kits/bi-xenon-fx-r-stage-iii-kit.html FX-R 3.0 Bi-xenon projectors (LHD) Morimoto Ballasts Morimoto Bulbs H11 Relay Harness( you will also need the capacitor link here: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/components/harnesses/capacitor-relay-harness-link.html#.Vei6qn_BzRY) Shrouds(Not needed) a couple questions though.. 1. is this kit only for the low beams? would i need a separate kit for high beams? 2. would the headlight extended cap that a member created be needed so i wont have to cut anything? 3. do I/would I need anything else for this upgrade? my goal is to have HID high and low beams and fogs - Which i see the HID Extra 5202 HID fog kit will work pretty good. sorry for all the questions im just new to HID and trying to figure it all out- 3,363 replies

Does anyone have pictures of the rc 3.5 lift with stock wheels/tires? I am saving my stock wheels and tires to use in the winter and was wondering how bad it will look with the 3.5 lift and stock tires

What type gas do you use? 87? 89? 92?
goblue4016 replied to goblue4016's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
does anyone use any of those fuel additive and cleaner shot things that you can get at an auto store? i never know if these ever work or not, or if they are even useful? -

Thanks guys... Yea I have the 5.3 so I'll stick to 87 until I get a tune eventually -
Hey All, Just curious what type gas so you all use for these trucks? I'm running 89 but I didn't know if these trucks perform better with one type over the other, any added performance or mpg boost with one? I want to see if I'm wasting the little extra I pay for 89 if 87 is the same thing.

2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers
goblue4016 replied to Green 1364's topic in Modifications & Accessories
So I purchased the Truxedo Truxport cover and so far I am happy with it, i like the fact that it sits on top of the rails so i have more room in the bed for my ATV.. The only complaint is the cover is not that tight... i know that the truxport doesn't have an automatic or manual adjuster to tighten it - but does anyone know how to tighten it anyway? it just shakes too much while driving. Thanks! -

I have seen that the Roll-n-lock is a great locking burglar proof cover... there is another similar one that's pretty much the same but i cant remember the name.. I think its Retrax Pro.. -
What about Black Silverado/Sierra Photos?
goblue4016 replied to Chief Bob's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Thanks Rev! - yea i think it looks pretty good and i do like a little bit of chrome - hence the chrome wheels, i may just change the handles to the painted black and call it a day. I agree though some nice chrome step bars would look pretty nice! -
2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers
goblue4016 replied to Green 1364's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Hey Guys - im looking at getting a soft roll up tonneau cover for my standard bed crew cab (i need access to the full bed quite a bit with my atv, ice fishing sled, etc..getting loaded in and out - that's why the soft roll up.. I have read about the truxedo lo-pro, truxport, access, and tonnopro.. I am leaning towards getting the truxport because it sits on top of the factory plastic bed rail caps because I am worried about my atv banging against the in bed design like the lo-pro... but then I dont get to use the tie down points on top of the bed rails.. people who have the lo pro or similar - how sturdy are the rails? or how many inches do you lose within the bed? Im worried loading my atv might hit them or when I load a sled it will bang into the rails. I wish I can combine a couple covers to make a perfect one haha... any advice, comments or other tonneau cover suggestions would be appreciated! -

Hey Durtywimmin - just browsing the post and saw your truck - looks great! do you have a lift on this or is it stock? -
thanks for the tip - so i will go with the RC 3.5 suspension lift. - this is the only lift I really know but have been reading about some other suspension lifts like BDS or zone. Im looking for around a 3.5-4" suspension lift but want to try and keep it as smooth as a ride as possible (easier said than done) so im thinking of throwing on some bilstein 5100's to help smooth the ride, my friend told me about fox 2.0 and claims they are a better ride (more expensive though) any of these worth it over the Premium N2.0 series shocks the rc kit comes with? any advice would help as new to the truck world! (I have a 2014 silverado 1500 4x4)

question for you all - i just picked up a 2014 silverado 1500 CC with 20" rims and stock tires - and I want to put a lift on it.. i have been looking at the RC 3.5" Suspension lift and the RC 3.75" Combo body and suspension lift kit... being new to all of this, is one better than the other? I am looking to lift the truck but also get as smooth as a ride as I can with the lift - as it will be mostly an on road truck.
-
Thanks for the input guys - sounds like the Bilsteins are the way to go - a couple of my buddies are pushing me to go with the fox 2.0 shocks - a lot more money but they say its worth it, has anyone tried the fox shocks at all? also my ultimate goal will be to throw a RC 3.5" lift on the truck in the summer - and i believe the kit comes with shocks, but I have no idea how good or bad they are??
