  1. If it's not the tires then it must be the driveshaft. From my personal experience on several past vehicles with vibration issues, the factory shafts were slightly bent and way out of balance and of course the dealer was no help. The faster it spins the more it will whip out of shape. I've had them balanced and straightened at a driveline shop, spent the $150 or so and the problems disappeared, worth every cent and no more aggravation.
  2. Post up your result, I hope this cures your problem.
  3. I think I'm lucky so far, I've only noticed what sounds like a flat spot on a tire at speed, it comes and goes, but no vibration whatsoever, still very smooth. I found a potential source with the large plastic cover beneath the engine rubbing against the frame and wearing the coating off, probably caused by air turbulence created by the front air dam(?), I trimmed it and so far no noise, fingers crossed. I really hope you guys and GM gets this problem sorted.
  4. Crew cab, 5.3, 3.08, about 70 mph majority of the trip. Stock tires, don't know the size though, no bed cover, I don't hot dog it, maybe that's why the mpg is so good, I have no other explanation for it.
  5. Recent trip from San Diego to Las Vegas.
  6. I added an interior trash container, used a black fabric bag with the Chevy logo that I got at the International Auto show last month. I had to engineer a method to hang it but it works good and looks tons better than a plastic Walmart bag or using the passenger floor as a dump.
  7. Glad you found the solution.
  8. I think your on the right track by using a dial indicator, however I would check run out on the wheels first then the hubs. Check your driveshaft run out too if you can rig some kind of fixture. I bought a new Ford F150 in 1984, it had a nagging vibration, dealer was no help, I suspected the driveshaft, had a driveline shop inspect, it was bent and the balance weights were 180 degrees off, $100 took care of it. Only other issue I can think of would be a torque converter out of balance.......best of luck.
  9. Very impressive! Are you the original owner and what kind of routine maintenance has it received?
  10. 1985 Ford F250, bought new special ordered, 2001 Honda Nighthawk 750, bought new also.....some things you just never get rid of.
  11. Not to nit-pick but that's a CL 350, not a CB....the CB had the low pipes, I know, I bought one brand new in 1969 same color.
