I just double checked my paperwork and unfortunately it didn't specify. I recall looking into the detail of the corrosion warranty though and did not see the frame included. So, if I were you I'd get it right away. You are getting close! Also, you will likely only get one chance for them to fix this. Make sure they do it exactly as the TSB says which includes removing the bed. My dealer had redone mine twice and it still get peeling off and rusting out. And they didn't remove the bed. I found spots where they has just sprayed over the rust too. Nothing is more frustrating to see than that. I went off on the manager and he just ignored my complaints.

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll be checking this WAY more often.

I guess the obvious is probably already covered, but have you had your air filter replaced? What did they do with your service? Just oil change? I would make sure they used 0W-20.. but a GM service department should know what your truck recommends. These Direct Injection engines do have a lot of build up on the intake valves. I believe the dealers recommend this service at 30k miles, and it should improve fuel economy. HOWEVER, I am very skeptical of this service, because after I had it done, my cats failed from so much gunk being cleared out. Dealer had to replace the cats under warranty.

I'm getting 10mpg here in MN with 10F weather... I would be extremely happy to have your fuel econ! 1) Temps drop really does kill the fuel econ in these trucks 2) Tire pressure drops with temps as well. Mine were down 5psi. 3) My guess is 0-30-0 type of driving is not what they test for their 'city' est mpg. 4) Remote start every morning. I am probably getting the worst fuel econ of anyone with a 5.3L on here.. even though I have stock tires and no lift! I can't imagine if it was snowy all the time and I needed to be in 4WD. Probably would be getting 5mpg? Pretty disappointing actually.. I still get 20-22mpg highway though. I'm just not on the highway that much anymore.

Nope! I was surprised with the fuzz that was piled up in that corner. I clearly need to do this every 10k miles (or less), instead of every 15-17k. When I pulled out the filter, a leaf fell off the back of the filter and down into the blower motor. I didn't realize it until I fired the fan up full blast and it started making a buzzing sound. Had to pull the new filter back out, and wedge my hand in there and pull it out. I was lucky I didn't have to take the blower motor out just to get it.

Haha, yeah I reread some of the posts here, and my idea of how leaves get into and on the cabin air filter was quite wrong. I pictured a vehicle sitting outside somehow being more prone to crap falling in,, but that isn't how that works lol.

Wow I'm glad I saw this thread and comment. After just 15k miles, garage kept, this filter is still dirty as hell.

I didn't think you could run 275/70/18 without at least 1" of front. But is it really needed? Or can I run this size without a level and not have any rubbing?

This includes the Rancho shocks? I'm hearing that the 5100's have a stiffer ride than the stock Ranchos.

Why did you only do rear? I'm looking to do front and rear soon. -
I just read that some GM mechanics are blaming lifters going bad due to having AFM disabled. How does that work? Are there lifters specific to AFM? I just can't picture how using all 8 cylinders could cause a lifter to give out.

HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit
Haus_Z71 replied to MotoMedic's topic in Modifications & Accessories
I bet that FXR kit is awesome. I did my Morimoto Elite kit yesterday. Installation was a breeze. I used 3M double sided tape to mount everything. I am definitely happy with the results. It is a nice improvement! They aren't flamethrowers like the pictures I've seen of the 50W, but the improvement over stock makes it worth while. I've found that golden white is better than pure white for someone like myself driving on ice and snow. 1) has anyone out there gone with the Morimito Elite 35w or the Enlighten kit 35w and wished they had gone with the 50w? Or is 35w plenty of light (anything better than these trash stock lights I have). 2) Enlighten lists the 5500k as golden white while TRS image of 5500k says pure white, and that 4500k is actually a warm white. Which is more accurate. Here is my goal: I need awesome nighttime wet road vision, with preferably a warm white color to help contrast snow/iced conditions. Any clarification or advise is greatly appreciated!- 3,363 replies

Were you stock to start with? What tires you running with your Bilsteins?
-
I didn't quite follow what the Z71 package has installed for suspension. I'm going to put on 285/65/18's, so need to clear that. I definitely want to order Bilsteins from MRT. I'm looking for 2" up front. Don't mind a little rake. Just don't want front higher than back. Should I be ordering the 5100 kit?

Just tightened mine to 78. Some were around 30. Hope this helps, and thanks for sharing.

The process really is a joke. Here's a recap: 2015 with 3000 miles - http://m.imgur.com/a/ctmp2 Warranty work round 1 - http://m.imgur.com/a/w5MEm 6 month later - http://m.imgur.com/a/nIPEJ Round 2 - http://m.imgur.com/a/IpoEI Hmmm wonder if I will ever buy a GM vehicle again.. Also, who wants to bet that there will be a round 3 and 4.. And 5.

Yep this. I am leaving for an 1800 mile road trip tomorrow so I emailed them a few weeks back for an efficiency tune. I now have a tune for road trips and one for performance daily driving. Since my truck was tuned by Blackbear, I've been loving my truck more than ever.

Round 2 of frame treatment complete. In several spots you can see rust around the edges. That will clearly work its way under the coating, again. It also looks so rough in spots, it's obvious they just sprayed over everything without stripping it. So there will very likely be a round 3 of this shit. Woohoo! http://m.imgur.com/a/IpoEI

After 3000 miles my frame had several chunks missing and peeling off. It had a lot of rust. http://m.imgur.com/a/ctmp2 My dealer followed the TSB and stripped it and retreated it. http://imgur.com/a/w5MEm 6 months later, it looks as bad as before. http://m.imgur.com/a/nIPEJ It's back at the dealer now. They said they would get GM involved and let me know. I'll post an update when I have one.

Oh yeah I took out the plug right after taking the pictures. Since it's cold outside I figured I'd keep it off. I'll look into doing what you did too.
