  1. glad you're ok. there are a lot of people out there who wonder why we need trucks, why do so many have trucks, cow farts etc. This reason right here needs to be higher on our response list. You would not have fared well in a prius.
  2. 7.5k full synthetic changes with whatever the advance oil change special is. These aren't race cars, as long as you're not putting generic walmart oil in there, and honestly even then... any decent brand will do you just fine.
  3. father of 3 and my first crew. Use the buttons all the time when coming back from practice or the store with groceries. My first stop with kids or groceries is not the driver side... ever haha.
  4. had a pair of $150 UA glasses that have been going strong for at least 3 years. After a year of being stored out in the open in direct sunlight the rubber on the frames degraded on the side and nose rest thing. Literally melted and then fell off. But yeah sure GM, UV and sunglight never has an affect on rubbers and plastics right? Still bitter about this.
  5. I'm not saying or have I ever stated that I love the interior of my truck and that ford and dodge don't outperform in this category. What I was trying to say, although yes I was a little snippy about it is that the interior is much further down the list for me for a truck and the other attributes the silverado brings to the table in my opinion are superior to the other domestics and that's why I have a chevy. I do think they can and should do better. Competition is good and someone has to say something to sell those motertrend mags rights? When we were shopping for our kid hauler, we were mostly looking for roominess and flexibility, but the interior was very high on the list. When I shop for my summer car, the interior is very high on the list. I'm saving/planning for the new vette and the only thing I dont like is the center armrest button thing. But for a truck? Just not a huge deal. Sorry not sorry. I had a 16 before my 19 so I feel qualified to speak to it. My 16 was an LT, so basically the same trim as my 19. If this dude is bragging about his 16's interior... I'm not sure he's ever been in a 19. There's very little changed as far as the overall design. Things I liked more in my 16's interior sunglass holder usb charger inside the armrest not on the dash z71 on the door sills and not on the mats z71 carbon fiber inlays on the gauges better base model backup camera and stereo more storage in the bottom seat cubby Things I like more on my 19 softer materials push button start e-brake nicer wood grain accent HEATED FREAKING STEERING WHEEL rear usbs (i have a crew now and dbl before so not sure if this is new) Truthfully a lot of what I liked better on the 16 could have stayed and the additions to the 19 could have come along with it anyhow. I do not feel that the 19 kept up with the times as well as it should have for a brand new model, but I don't look back at the 16 as some marvel of luxury either
  6. I've had more compliments about my 19 RST than any other truck I've owned. I'm not sure what world you're living in... And I believe the world you live in is much different than mine, because my whole family owns trucks and rarely do we discuss how pretty our interiors are. It goes: what size cab, what size bed, what engine, z71 or no?, backup camera?, hows it ride?, how's it on gas? but then again, we hunt, fish and use our trucks as trucks. Maybe yours is stuck in California commuter traffic?
  7. I think the complainers just have a louder voice. Granted the truck has come a long way and many people use them as daily drivers now, but I am climbing in and out of mine a lot during hunting season with bloody hands and muddy boots. I have a nice car that rarely sees the rain, but my truck I want to be made simpler. Durability and ease of cleaning is more important to me than anything else. That said, I think they can improve for sure, but I never once considered another truck because of the interior.
  8. does it do the same with recirc off? I never have recirc on. What about in auto mode?
  9. i'm the opposite kind of, RST with z71 and I think I was in around $54k with options... I needed that dual exhaust haha.
  10. yep that's where mine is and it fit me perfect. Nice trim, nice wheels and all the bells and whistles I really need (carplay, heated stuff, remote keyless etc) and nothing extra except the safety package which was on the truck I wanted. I dont think the safety package is worth what they charge, but I don't hate it either.
  11. so weird that the RST got f'd over when it's a pretty expensive package and not to shy of the ltz with features.
  12. holy shit and a high country to boot!
  13. yeah thats my plan. I'm nearing my first "free" oil change and have the 2 recalls and figure I'll ask while I'm there. There's a long thread somewhere on this that describes it, but iirc it has something to do with build date and plant. I guess I was unlucky. I dont think it applies to the sound package upgrade, just those of us with the base model stereo.
  14. everytime i see this i'm reminded and annoyed that my expensive ass z71 RST doesn't have the update feature... With all the tech these days, the ability to not update your tech is ridiculous. I constantly have buggy connection and audio issues with carplay that I have no doubt would be solved with some patches.
  15. i use it less than I thought I would too, but it's a cool feature that'd i'd like to preserve. even if it's only a few times a year i pull into lowes for picking up mulch and just pop the tailgate like a boss lol.
  16. yes happened to me with my truxedo. numerous, numerous calls and emails with them and no fix. they seemed to be oblivious to the issue as well. My "fix ended up being a very careful but kind of crappy job of trimming the weather stripping horizontally, there's a few gaps now but unless it's raining sideways behind me it stays dry. (that kind of rain hasn't happened yet lol) video i made
  17. i live in upstate NY and yes it wont engage if your truck is still cold as hell and the heater is cranking, particularly if you're one of those guys who cranks his thermo to high. It's a thermostat people. Treat it like your house and set it at your desired temp (68-73) and leave it. It'll heat and cool as fast as it can and then calm down. anyhow, It usually takes a good 5-10 minutes before it's happy and then will kick off at a stoplight.
  18. drone is a hum or drone lol at cruising speeds (50-70). I've owned a lot of performance cars and bikes and typically to get the best acceleration rumble and no drone you have to pay. Drone didn't bother me at 24 with 2 12" subs bumping with friends all the time. But it does at 36 with coworkers, wife or just a podcast playing lol. So it's interesting to hear it's possible with a cutout, which is something even borla can struggle with sometimes. That's why there are those who are skeptic. If i owned and didn't lease I might make an appointment tomorrow to do this. Worst case I'm out $100 to try it and another $100 to undo it. That's still a shit ton cheaper than any aftermarket.
  19. really no drone though?
  20. I mean, that makes sense. But it does suck if they're out and not willing to help fix what they admit is their problem.
  21. interesting. I don't have any issues with mine, but I think my 16 was better AND had HD radio. Must have been the IOS.
  22. Weird I have the same on an RST. Is it a month in the build kind of thing or just that it’s not the premium model?
  23. i'd be leery of magnets. you can probably rig up an old holster though.
  24. i'm not sure if this is the exact one, but it's the same concept. i found with a quick google search. https://www.amazon.com/GunSlingR-Universal-Vehicle-Holster-Mount-Under/dp/B00AZ8GAKQ
  25. center console but only when i'm with it. there is a company that makes a holster designed for under your seat. basically you can reach between your legs to pull it out, thought that was a neat idea but not enough to spend the cash.
