  1. Besides my daily ritual of driving to/from work, drove out to Stater Bros in Mojave for a few things, came home, put the perishables away, and went out and tuned my CB antenna. Didn't quite get the measurements I was looking/hoping for, but at least now I'm less likely to fry my radio while transmitting.
  2. Daneal, I attached a picture of my Reverse/Cargo connection. Make sure to also push them in at least 1/4"-1/2". If you did have the diode backwards, then your reverse lights will come on with the cargo switch. Also, if you are only going cargos on with reverse, your cargo light switch will also light up in reverse. Freaked my son out one night, and for a short second, me. I used the smallest phillips tip jewelers screwdriver I have to create a passage for the wire on the diode down along side the pins/wires I was inserting the diode into. Pushing the diode wire in can be a little bit of a PITA, without creating a "tunnel."
  3. BRN26 to PNK26 (there are 27 on PNK), on the 2014s and newer, this forum. You will need to find a wiring diagram or check with other 2011 owners. PGamboa may have a diagram for yours already. I downloaded and scoured the PDF for 2011 electrical build, could not find the information for jumpering your cargo lights and reverse lights. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=14&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiU44ezpbLXAhXC8CYKHduDAqIQFghGMA0&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gmupfitter.com%2Fpublicat%2F2011_BB%2FREV_2011_FS_PU_LD_Electric_1210.pdf&usg=AOvVaw1b-jd-jhJ9IpBEpYNvt2Mz
  4. Yeah, tons of "no joy," >$500. I know of something else that I would have rather spent that on.
  5. Drove home from work and renewed my license plates.
  6. Well, yesterday, I fixed my CB. Found my antenna spring, finally. Had to fix the 90º connector on the antenna mount, was not making contact inside, drop a little solder down in the hole on the cable side, got the sidewalls of the female port to make contact to the rest of it. Today, I plan on tuning the antenna, putting foam around my CB/scanner, finding a good mounting point for my mic holder, and washing it.
  7. That's interesting to note. The only time I have seen mine not "light up," was about a year into ownership, and then I cleaned my steering wheel, removing dead skin cells and wife's makeup residue. Recently, I was looking at replacing my stereo with one that has NAV and a 6-disc (MP3 compatible) changer in it, like my '10 Ridgeline did. But now, maybe, I'll put that one on the back burner, until I find one that I know for sure will work with everything else in my truck.
  8. Yeah, that was another thing that I had to do, to make it a little easier, unclip it.
  9. Had to find a recent list. I did mine by putting the stripe end in first, and a fine tip jewelers screwdriver before the diode, to make a easier path for the lead. BRN18 to BRN22 (stripe end). Push the lead we’ll into each pin, at least 1/4”.
  10. Getting my 40K oil change and service, RIGHT NOW. And they’re going to wash it when they’re done.

  12. Yesterday, we went to a long-time friend's daughter's wedding, wife was the coordinator for the wedding and I was running sound. On the way home last night, early this morning, rolled over the 40K mark, right as I was passing the North Gate to Edwards AFB.

On the way home last night, early this morning, rolled over the 40K mark, right as I was passing the North Gate to Edwards AFB. I can honestly say that I did not have a blank screen issue, but I did have it lockup with the radio screen on. And like yours, only the steering wheel controls worked for it, didn't even flip to the camera in R. After a mile or two, and getting fed up with it, I threw the transmission in N, shutoff the truck, restarted it, and everything was normal. Haven't had a problem since. Hopefully, it's just a "one-time glitch," like mine was.
  14. A co-worker and I were just discussing the OPT7 FluxBeam X LEDs, I'm going to get some soon. He has them on his Explorer and both of his motorcycles, and loves them.
  15. I used the smallest jeweler's screwdriver to manipulate the post on in the hole away from one corner, so I could push the diode in.
  16. I'm a Navy brat, born/raised in San Diego. Joined/retired USAF, 91-13. Live near Edwards, been assigned here twice on active duty, 96-99 & 04-current. Once you have your CCW, you're good, just easiest to acquire in Kern.
  17. Will post all of my install photos, after I'm done. May be Friday before I actually get to stuff foam around my radios. There's a couple CB threads with some photos of my install.
  18. My son broke the faucet to the guest bathroom shower, last night. (OK, it broke when he was turning it off.) So, after work, this morning, I had to make a Home Depot (Tehachapi) run (grabbed a few other project needs while I was there), stopped at Love's Truck Stop (also in Tehachapi) for a CB antenna need, stopped by Jim's CB Shop/Radio Shack (Mojave, he's closing his doors after 45 years of service, CLEARANCE SALE!!!!, will officially close on 20 Oct), and rolled home to treat the spa, fix the shower, and put my CB officially together for use TONIGHT. (FINALLY!!!!) Tomorrow, I will wrap my CB & scanner in black foam, to keep CRAP from falling down around them.

  20. Just thought of a <$50 mod to do, sometime between now and the end of the year, for when/if I use a U-Haul trailer or the like..... "Rear-view Camera/Mirror" - <$40, wait for Amazon to deliver by end of this week, plus 30 minute install (at most). Buying the parts later today, with a few other bits/pieces that I need for some other projects. I'm buying a "wireless" license plate camera and mirror set. The mirror "clamps" onto the existing mirror with the wiring and receiver tucked away above. The camera gets added to a power source on the trailer, grounded to the trailer. For a U-Haul, I'm going to connect it to a 4-pin plug, get a 4-pin extension cord and tap it into the connection at the back of my truck. For the truck-bed trailer (longbed w/wo shell) that I'm eventually going to get and mod/build, I'm going to connect the camera to the taillights (permanently). This will assist me on lane changes and be ready to go when I backup. When I attach the trailer on my front hitch (when I install one), I'll just need to plug it into the front plug and I'll be able to see where I'm going, while I'm pushing it back.
  21. I would be taking that component apart and making sure that everything was/is good. May want to even flush/clean it out, make sure all debris is removed. Any chunks amongst all those shavings?
  22. Could have used one of these a couple weeks ago, same thing happened, but I was lucky enough to avoid the collision, and tonight, I had a moron with his nose up my butt, was literally under my back bumper.
  23. They are considered "Puddle Lights," GRY8 on the BCM. Run the diode from BRN26 to GRY8, stripe end in GRY8. You may need to jumper PNK26 to GRY8, as well. I think that PGamboa did this with his tow mirrors, he can confirm these, when he checks in.
