  1. Thanks !!! I missed that in the manual. I was checking it cold.
  2. I keep forgetting to mention this: Manual says 6 quarts with filter when doing an oil change. My truck shows over filled on the dipstick doing this. Overfilled up to the writing on the dipstick above the full mark dot. Maybe 6 to 10 ounces I would guess. Any ideas? Thinking of doing an engine flush as mentioned by cowpie to clean it out and see if it helps with oil consumption.
  3. For The Record. Another oil user. Bought my truck(Nov./4/15) with 41K miles. 2012, Sierra, 5.3, 6 speed. A little history: Driven in manual 5 until Range installed at 46K miles. Quaker State, Dexos semi syn. 5W30 Changed the oil the first time after 2k miles due to oil was black. Changed every 3k miles there after. Just clocked 50, 500 miles. I have added half a quart in the last 1k miles.
  4. Wife's Honda has roll down feature. I roll down from afar and by the time I get to car it helps to cool.
  5. You wanna play, you gotta pay. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  6. Agree with pm26 on both responses. Nothing is made like it used to be. China, Mexico etc. I fixed the wife's Honda with parts from Rock Auto. Compressor, drier, expansion valve, oil and freon bought local for half dealer cost and $300.00 less than local shops. Been working for 2 years. Brother in law has a evacuation pump but you may be able to rent one.
  7. Hold down tow haul button for a few seconds. When you let up it will say on the screen that it was disabled. Does this work on a 2012?
  8. Funny you should say " I'll probably change it this fall as I'm normally out hunting in some remote places and would rather not get stuck without a truck or cell signal". I was in my teens, in the upper peninsula of Michigan fishing in a remote area. A storm came in fast, buy the time I got to my truck I was cold and my truck wouldn't start, dead battery, no cell phones then and if there were I bet no service at that location. I sat for hours, cold and pissed and swore that would never happen again.
  9. I'm with jimcost2014, battery problem. How old is the battery? For years I have avoided starting problems and being stranded by replacing my batteries every 4 years. You will have to replace it so why wait till it dies? Really important to me for the wife's vehicles, works late, 10 degrees, wind blowing, parking lot empty, vehicle has to start, not worth it for $100.00.
  10. Been using newspaper longer than I can remember.
  11. I admired it....................TWICE.
  12. Agree with juicy, put in a new battery. IMO going this route you are working the charging system hard.
  13. To each their own. I think the difference between non FFV and a FFV may be more than known.
  14. My guess cv joint. Jack up the right front tire, spin tire, listen for noise. Grab tire at 10 and 2 o"clock, spin tire clockwise 90 degrees, reverse direction quickly, listen for noise in cv joint. Rotate tire back and forth, if the cv joint is bad you'll know. Did they do a front end alignment after the tie rods were replaced? Is the wheel bearing bad or to loose.
