  1. I wish more people recognized this fact. There are so many people who disregard 0-60 times. It is pretty much the only aspect of performance you can safely take your car to the limit on public roads.
  2. Imo what they feel like and what they are capable of are 2 different things. A v8 just feels a lot more powerful because of the powerband.
  3. There's a "engine misfire on startup" CEL that requires fuel injector replacement, likely not the fuel injectors causing the rough idle issue though. I think the problem is carbon buildup on the back of the valves. If you never had a catch can, it'd probably be a good idea to get the valves cleaned and then install one anyway. If it doesn't resolve the idle issue, it's certainly not a waste of money.
  4. Have a '17 denali loaner today with 2k miles on it, 75mph it vibrates, so annoying and so worth getting out of the vehicle if they can't fix it. I feel for you guys, I would be so pissed if my new truck did this.
  5. silver is selling for about $15/ounce right now, so that static metal jar with low pressure hoses with plastic connections likely costed more than pure silver by weight.
  6. I've been saying that for years and is why I enjoy the sound of nice factory systems typically. I used to be an installer a long time ago. While I the individual tones always sounded great and had great clarity, they never worked in harmony together. It was like there was the high frequency's, the mid, and the subwoofer, never seemed to play as a cohesive system. I think it's difficult to achieve in a vehicle, especially when you don't have 100's of hours of tuning and r&d to put into it like a manufacturer.
  7. Seems like a great idea if you are not an expert. The little crap like wiring, connectors, fuse block, speaker fitment, will all add a lot of time and money to the project if you don't do stereo installation frequently. I was trying to figure out what kind of speakers were in that system but couldn't. It's really nice there's a sub, and 8" mid, a 3" mid, and a tweeter. Not sure if it's going to be better than a couple sets of focals and a sub though. Probably could order the alpine tweeter housing seperately, those are pretty nice by themselves
  8. Irrelevant to the topic, but I like to share this story whenever I get a chance in hopes it might save someones life. Couple years ago I was stopped at a red light, 50mph road, all of a sudden I look in my mirror and there's an f-150 not slowing down at all. I floor it off to the side and the f-150 t-bones a honda accord. The accord had mom driving and 2 kids in car seats in the back. I thought I had just witnessed people die. I run over to the accord and thankfully see the mom freaking out with blood all over her face. I quickly look in the back seat and see kids crying. I go in the undamaged side and pull the kids out of their car seats. Literally not a scratch on them. I could not believe it. I have my first due in march, she will be in a car seat until she can't fit. F-150 was a drunk driver, like 1pm in broad daylight on a sunday. Dad got there before the drunk was put in the cop car, dad came very close to getting arrested lol
  9. I don't think there's a lot of power to be had with it I only say that because I have an l86 and all I want is an lt1 or msd intake
  10. Yeah l86 intake would be fine. The lt1 is considerably different height and angle though.
  11. Well the lt1 intake angles downward to clear the low vette hood. So I'd assume you wouldn't be able to adapt parts that go from truck airbox to corvette intake.
  12. Mystery solved I unplugged my maf the other day to spray maf cleaner on it. Truck was off and I let it sit off for 2 hours. When I started my truck and drove to my destination, fans were running full tilt on a cold engine on a cold day. It was strange. I guess it has something to do with unplugging the maf. Odd GM programming, that's for sure.
  13. My truck has adjustable pedals, most of the people that have the issue have adjustable pedals
  14. Gotta hook it up to the throttle body. I hooked it up right passed the maf and it did nothing but pool in the intake tube. Did it again at the theottle body and it worked perfectly Yeah I wish it came out in more of a fine mist. Seems to come out like wd40's. Seems like the particulates would be too heavy to reach the cylinders in the back.
  15. Internal combustion engines have a long way to go Camless engines with either hydraulic, pneumatic, or electric valves would take any engine currently on the market and make atleast 30-40% more power. Would also make them lighter, smaller, and have less emissions. I believe konigsegg (sp) is leading the design of them actually.
  16. I'd be scared to local with DI and the 8speed. Chances someone has extensive experience on these is slim and there are certain things, which I'm not aware of, that the 8speed does not like and is easy to screw up. If you were doing turbo's or nitrous, I'd probably say go local as you'll need wideband tuning. I'd rather have a blackbear tune than a local tune any day for a mostly stock vehicle. He's tuned 100's of them. Could it be a little conservative, sure, but 10hp isn't worth the risk IMO. Also blackbear doesn't really do "canned" tunes. While the mail order service doesn't have "live tuning", he still looks at what your individual truck is doing through stored sensor data and makes adjustments from there. You could also go custom through blackbear if he's coming to your area. That's what I did.
  17. The 5.3 and 6.2 are both powerful engines, they just don't feel like it, at all. The tune essentially makes it feel like the power is there. Changing the shift rpm, the throttle, shift speed, and reducing torque managment is way more important for the driving experience than power. Your old 6.0 had a real throttle cable and no torque managment, I am absolutey certain you will see a much bigger difference tuning your current truck. If you asked me what would be more fun, a 500hp truck on the factory tune, vs a 420hp truck with a tune, I'd take the 420hp truck any day.
  18. I am very happy with my truck completely stock with a tune. If you go with blackbear, you get free tunes afterwards if you decide to modify. So you are not wasting a nickle if you upgrade in stages and see how you like it. Tune first That's also what I did, told my wife I wanted an early xmas present, just got it done about a month ago. Now she won't have to spend another few hundred of my money on some other gift!
  19. if it's a '15 6.2, he has an 8speed
  20. Also one detail I saw that you mentioned in the other forum that I think might help people The local shop took one look at the brand of your driveshaft and said, "yup that's the problem" Apparently the manufacturer of our driveshafts are known to have this issue?
  21. By far the best one for me so far was sticking a paint stick under the throttle. Incase your not aware.... Move your throttle with your hand and watch the throttle assembly. For many of us it's so loose that we have 1/2 inch of throttle travel before it actually does anything. Stick something behind the assembly and throttle response is much better.
  22. damn, noticed this thread and shoved a paint stick behind it. Still some flex but not as bad. Definitely noticed the difference. Someone should take the plastic housing out and 3d print a new one. It's astonishing they found that amount of play acceptable. It looks like it was done intentionally!
  23. My all-terrain has that stock, yours looks almost identical to it
  24. Mine got to 225 degrees while towing 3500lbs a few weeks ago I believe your temps are pretty normal and these tranny's like to run hot.
