  1. After driving the ‘19 denali ultimate, I thought for sure my ‘14 had slightly better brakes. But the truck only had 90 miles on it and I didn’t try any full on braking. Not sure if that played a factor. But for general street driven braking I thought the ‘14 was a little stronger.
  2. Man everytime I drive a nice new car I love my projectors even more. Just had the ‘19 denali and my headlights are so much better. I forget how good they are until I drive a “high end” vehicle. d2s mini 4.0, morimoto 5500k 35w from fast headlights. Just crushes every factory car in light output and beam pattern. Kind of a pain to install, took me 7 hours my first time ever working on headlights, but it’s so worth it if you’re keeping the truck for a few years.
  3. I’ve driven about 10, and 2 were shakers. All pretty much brand new from dealer. Even if its only 5-10%, thats over 100k trucks and more than justifies taking any truck you purchase up to highway speed.

  5. Yes you have to cut the back of the housing off. It took me 7 hours and I bought everything from fast headlights. It was a long day, but at just over $300, it’s been completely problem free and it’s one of the best things I’ve done to the truck. i bought a d2s mini 4.0, hylux ballast 35w, and 5500k morimoto bulbs. do it. One of those great long term mods you won’t regret
  6. Yes I already knew they were on the ‘19’s. I’m sure they are still junk. The quality of consumable items like shocks, tires, brake pads, etc are not too important to the overall purchase. Inconvenient, but easy to fix. I would not be focusing on the rancho’s for the ‘19. Apparently they redesigned the suspension. I’d be focusing on that.
  7. They are the worst shock I’ve ever had in my life I don’t know the science behind it. I just know what it feels like driving with the ranchos and the bilsteins. When asked for any sort of dramatic suspension movement, such as a large bump, the bilstein does a far better job. I don’t know what to tell you other then that.
  8. Ranchos = hit a large pothole or bump = feels like you hit an 8 inch curb and someone hit your dash with a sledgehammer bilsteins = hit a large pothole or bump = thud, the end
  9. Everybody hates the ranchos this thread is 3 years too late
  10. “Must upgrade” list because they are complete garbage stock -tires -ranchos -and for my ‘14 slt, headlights -engine/trans tune
  11. The higher the center of gravity the more you bias you need to the front. Pretty darn high on our trucks. Rears would be pretty important while towing/hauling though.
  12. Here’s my 6.2 at idle, in gear, and hot as shit. This was the 3rd 0-60 pull in a row.
  13. Damn 240-275 seems really hot for plastic and adhesive I suppose the whole assembly is designed to withstand some fairly high temps
  14. I’ve honestly found the more of a man you are the nicer the heated steering wheel is. man shit in cold weather = freezing cold hands. where as the ladies just go from the house to the car
  15. No advice but I feel your pain. I hated the ride when I drove a denali with mag ride. you can feel every little thing on the road. Great on a sports car, but terrible on a big boaty luxury truck
  16. Imo whenever telling someone not to install hid’s in stock non-projector housings, I don’t think the illegal arguement is much motivation. the real reason not to do is because it makes you an a-hole
  17. Sounds like a stuck t-stat
  18. When someone takes this much of their personal time to discover and share information with others, it is truely a great thing. Thanks.....round of applause for Jon-A
  19. Borrowing $100 from a friend and stiffing him isn’t illegal, but it’s a dick move, kinda like high powered headlights in halogen housings.
  20. Yeah you didn’t read. This is has nothing to do with any of that. It makes the noise while not moving. My truck and my mustang both make this noise, mustang is actually way worse. No idea what the cause is.
  21. Just did this, I have the same headlights. Fastheadlights, talk to phil, he’s a forum member. d2s mini 4.0 retrofit+ hylux 35watt ballast + morimoto 35w 5500k Somewhere around $300-$350 for everything, takes about 7 hours (thats how long it took me and I’ve never opened a headlight before) of labor (but mostly on a shop bench which is far less painful than wrenching.) and it’s headlight nirvana. Considerably more light and sharper beam pattern than any nice factory car I’ve been in, and I’ve been in lots of them. 35 watt is really bright and I’m happy I chose them over 55 watt. There are some rare occassions like rural roads at night I’d prefer the 55watts, but you’d be better off going with 35watts and adding a light bar.
  22. The only reason burning oil is bad is because for the last 100 years it’s been a sign of a bad ring seal. In these motors it’s coming through the valve train as a leak because of the afm. It’s not a big deal. if you wish to stop it almost comletely, stop using the recommended 0w-20 oil. Use 5w30, which is what the camaro and corvette use, and their motors are internally identical to ours.
  23. 8 speed is much better if you’re modified factory torque rating is way higher, and it does not cut power during the shift
  24. 8 speed is a way better trans, if you get a good one <happy 6 speed owner. Also have only year of 6.2 w/6speed
