  1. Yeah, same here, dropped about 20 degrees since this morning.
  2. Yeah, I took the triumph out for a spin yesterday, was dry and 65 degrees... raining today though else I would be giving the Aprilia some lovin...
  3. That's fine... I was just saying that if my comments don't apply to you, then you shouldn't take offense... ?
  4. Methinks thou doth protest too much. One post does not a mountain make. Your response to said comment, however... ?
  5. Of course, if you tied things down properly rather than just tossing crap in the back and hoping it stays put... Sorry, it's a big pet peeve of mine as an avid motorcyclist... Too many times I am dodging debris and crap in the road because some yahoo uses the bed of his truck as a trash can, or doesn't take the time to secure his Home Depot purchases... One day especially was fun... dodging a large wheelbarrow tumbling end over end all over the road at 55mph...
  6. One day I will have to have my wife and I line them up at a stop light to see which is actually faster... haha Her's has a tune and intake mods and I think makes better power down lower in the revs, plus her throttle sensitivity is increased by like 18 or 20%... Although I will get a better launch than her... My Aprilia eats her Street Triple RS for lunch, but even if I take my little 64hp Street Cup... She has literally double the horsepower and a lighter bike, but for the first 75 yards I am off the line faster and out ahead a good bit... once she gets her revs up, she rockets past me... haha
  7. So I found this video. Interesting, it seems that the new 5.3L doesn't use that line underneath the throttle body... The motors up to 2018 had 3 vent lines essentially... Two at the valve covers, and one under the throttle body... That throttle body one is the one that went to a catch can when you installed one. Now it seems that the passenger side valve cover dumps to the intake tube, and the one on the driver side connects to the manifold... I am guessing that the one going to the intake tube isn't too bad because the vacuum drawn is minimal, and the one going directly to the manifold via the vacuum line is the one getting the most oil?
  8. Not looking for advice on them, there are a thousand threads on that already... I have good results on my 2018, based on the amount of oil trapped in it, and the fact that the return line from the can to the manifold that is under vacuum, is pretty much bone dry. Mine has a very fine steel wool "filter" inside the can, filtering the line coming in from the PCV which forces the atomized oil in the hot air to condense and form droplet and drain into the bottom of the can, rather than just get sucked into the can and right back into the motor where I don't want it. Used this way, it appears that like 98% of the oil is trapped and doesn't make its way into the manifold. For $40, that's good enough for me. That said, looking under the hood, this motor and setup on the 2019 LT Trail Boss appears quite a bit different than the 2018... Intake is on the other side and things are moved around and the front end seems more compact and cramped... So where is that line? Is it still under the throttle body? It's hard to see down in there on this model... Wondering where it is, what size hose I need to get and how much, etc... Thanks!
  9. Well, my 2018 doesn't have a V4 mode with the tune that I have loaded, and it still drones... The V4 mode thing is less of a drone, more of it totally changes the exhaust note and makes it sound more like a helicopter... I will play around with the screens some more today... It did seem a bit louder with them covered yesterday, but it also made the truck a little more... "blatty"... if that makes any sense...
  10. Mine sounds awesome straight piped, but I am gonna experiment with those screens today...
  11. Here is what mine sounds like with the muffler and flapper delete... the second truck in the video is the 2019 with the exhaust screens still in place... Based on how it sounds now, would it make sense to cover them up? I feel like it is loud, and those being there might be the reason why there is zero cabin drone while cruising, compared to the first truck in the video, my 2018, that does have a decent drone... Thoughts?
  12. I have heard the Borla and I don't think it sounds better than my simple muffler deletes... here they are on my wife's 2018 single pipe Z71, and on my new Trail Boss...
  13. What are those little screens on the end of the exhaust for and how much difference do they actually make when you cover them? I have a 2019 LT Trail Boss 5.3L and simply removed the flapper and muffler and welded in a piece of straight pipe. Sounds great, but not as loud as my 2018 Z71 with muffler and resonator delete. Then again, my 2019 also doesn't drone on the interstate the way the 2018 does, so perhaps I should leave those screens alone?
  14. Straight pipe all day every day. Sounds awesome on the 5.3L...
  15. I have a new Trail Boss 5.3L and cut out the muffler and the flapper valve and had a muffler shop weld in a pipe in their place. Sounds great. There is no resonator, just the mesh things which I can't figure out how they work or what they do. It sounds awesome and no drone on the interstate so far.
  16. I considered waiting for the Trail Boss to ship with the 6.2L later next year... But I got a much better deal on a leftover 2019 5.3L model, that waiting 6 months and paying probably $6-7k more didn't seem worthwhile... I ended up scoring a 2019 LT Trail Boss with upgraded 20" wheels and tires, spray in bed liner and some other goodies, for $44k... I don't think I would have been able to get a 2020 6.2L with these options for under $50k... I will say though, that this 5.3L feels faster than my 2018 5.3L Z71... Probably that it weighs nearly a quarter ton less, and has the newer 8-speed tranny whereas the 2018 has the 6 speed...
  17. Some pics of the new shoes. Same size as stock, which is 275/60r20, just a chunkier tire... I had the guy at Discount Tire measure and he didn't think we could go bigger without some rubbing going on... Tires have tread depth roughly double the stock tires, and only weigh like 6lbs more each, so negligible...
  18. K, thanks, good to know!
  19. At discount tire now, looked at several tires, going with GY Wrangler UltraTerrain’s in 275/60r20 for $787 installed out the door. Got $220 credit for the oem tires that have 750 miles on them. Will post pics when they are done. had them side by side with a ridgegrappler, and the Cooper ATP, and the UltraTerrains sat taller, had 5mm more tread depth than the others and looks fantastic, kinda like a Duratrac, but a good bit taller than the 18 inch Duratracs that a lot of the trail bosses come with.
  20. That would be great if they use a different strut, as that means I could lift it a little more and not worry about issues...
  21. That makes sense, as well as the weight per tire jumping 20lbs which I don't want. I have the 275/60r20 TrailRunner AT's on there that came with the truck, but the tread depth looks shallower than the off the shelf TrailRunners I see online... I know that in the motorcycle world, often times there is an OEM version of a tire, that differs from the off the shelf one you would buy aftermarket... Same for some of the Ohlins suspension, etc... Do automakers do the same with their tires? Maybe have an OEM version of something that is cheaper, or that they altered for that version to make it smoother running, quieter, etc?
  22. What piggyback systems are there out there? I have used things like that, Power Commanders and stuff on motorcycles for 10+ years... Easy to plug them in to the injectors and coils and then take the truck to a shop with a dyno and have them create a custom fuel/ignition map for you. Leaves no trace on the ECU for the warranty dept to pick up on, as everything happens after the ECM. Vengeance Racing is near me, and I may drive over there to see what they can offer for my 5.3L Trail Boss...
  23. Ok, I will see if I can find them. I get that they are not "level" in that they lifted the front and back both by 2"... I guess that I mean that they lifted it the same way that we would typically "level" it... by using spacers in the front to get it even with the back. On my 2018, I did a 2.5" level on the front and 3" blocks in the back to keep a little factory rake, so that when I put an ATV or something in the back, it would sit level and not squat like a dog taking a dump... haha. This is less about making the truck level and more about how one adds a little more height to the front... I know I can easily swap out the rear 2" blocks with 3" blocks or whatever... But with the front, if it already has 2" spacers in there, do those have to come out and get new ones, or...?
  24. I ask, because I have seen it mentioned, but the TB comes already leveled... Well, I mean it has spacers in there, 2", right? So if you level it more, are you just adding more spacers? If I recall from doing my 2018 Z71... you only wanted to use 2" or so of spacers on those trucks, to not make the ride harsh or having to start worrying about angles of the driveshaft and stuff like that... So you guys with TB's, are you removing the 2" spacers it comes with and adding larger suspension spacers? Is the suspension geometry on the TB different from the prior years where you can get away with larger spacers and not have things rubbing or at bad angles where you have to worry about wearing parts out?
  25. Actually I looked and the 275/60r20 is the stock size for my truck, that's what came on it. So going a step up would be something like a 285/60r20... But the price per tire jumps $100 just for that slight step in size, not sure why...
