Steering wheel controls mainly. Also display of certain info on the DIC. Also watched some videos where people had other miscellaneous issues...seems like one was the light not working on the heated steering wheel (although it did heat). A minor gremlin I admit, but makes you wonder what others there might be. I asked about some of the issues I'd heard about...but never really got an answer. I had started looking at the Gen 3, but was going to go with a Gen 4. The only real reason I was looking at a Gen 3 was that was where a link took me to and I didn't know there was a Gen 4 till I looked at the whole website. I guess mainly what changed my mind is that I really just wanted to keep a stock look, but that is my personal preference.
I went back on forth on this for a while......after a lot of consideration I decided I didn't like giving up some of the integrated features that I would by doing the linkswell system. But at the end of the day I'd say it's a personal preference.
Is there a way to tell if a 2015.5 only needs updated firmware other than removing glovebox and looking at HMI?
Manufacture website: http://www.linkswellinc.com/products/t-style-radio/ts-gmpu12-1rr-1/ A sales website listing Options: https://www.adcmobile.com/product/gen-iii-t-style-radio-for-2014-19-gm-trucks/
Has anyone looked into or considered this upgrade? I didn't watch the whole install video, but if I understand correctly it by passes the factory HMI and adds many functions. I currently have a 2.0 HMI and have researched the 2.5 upgrade for a while and was just about ready to start on it, but this may be a better way to go. I have sent an email to the manufacture asking SEVERAL questions. Including about some unlocks available on 2.5 upgrade (video in motion etc) as well as steering wheel controls. http://www.linkswellinc.com/products/t-style-radio/ts-gmpu12-1rr-1/ Review video: Install video:
First time I saw it on my nephew's vehicle I almost said something to him, but I figured out. Maybe people will learn eventually.
Well don't have a warranty. I may have checked wrong sources for my own hardware (and what all hardware I needed) and then programming cost....but even going that route was only going to save $100-$200 it seemed. So if it can be done with buying hardware yourself from other sources, and being sent for programming all for $300-$400 I'm curious to know if all works correctly and exactly what was bought and who did programming.
Yeah curious myself. Every time I've checked on doing it....get into the neighborhood of $1000 to get everything I "need"
I wondered about that. But I was thinking on "battery power" would mean they would stay powered regardless of door being open. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No problem, hope they fix you up
Thanks...I realized I wasn't clear about which USB ports... I am talking about the 3 USB ports on the center stack that are with the two power outlets and the 110 AC outlet. I haven't tested to power outlets to see if they stay on, but I guess I just thought it would all stay on with fuse in right position.
I ordered this one to replace a broken one on mine https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HOD5IWU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's been working fine ever since.
I have a question about the 50 amp fuse is positions 10/11... I have it in the position for battery (11), I want to be able to leave my phone charging occasionally when out of the truck, but it doesn't seem to stay on. If I'm gone for an extended period I can hear the phone make the tone like it was just plugged in and starting to charge when I open the door or get into the seat. It would only do this if it hadn't been charging. Now I am using the USB ports in the center stack and not the power outlets.... I just assumed that the RAP power or Battery power was to the USB and Power Outlets... Was I wrong or am I missing something else?
I had this issue, but for me the park assist didn't work at all when I had the message. I replaced one of the sensors and it has been working perfect ever since. Not sure about getting the message, but it still working.
