I sure hope I dont miss my 2003 Silverado HD2500. That thing had a 6.0L that was a workhorse of power, and never used any oil in 3000 to 4000 mile oil changes. I used conventional oil on it since it was new in 2003. Traded it in at 225,000 miles and I can assure you if you removed a valve cover, you could eat a bowl of cereal from the inside of it it would be free of oil stains and burn smell.
I had by 2022 SLT 6.2L only 9000 miles, but the DFM was on RetroFit and did not work. It had 4 oil changes in that 9000 miles and never used any oil, and the power of the engine was really good. Got rid of this truck do to RetroFit heated seats, no HUD, and no SuperCruise.
Now have the 2023 Denali Carbon Pro 6.2L and hope that the DFM does not effect it in any negative way because I think it is on the engine and likely active. Window sticker did not show RetroFit.
I always remove the break in oil at 500 miles. Then first oil change at 2500 miles, 2nd oil change at 6000 miles, and usually 3500 to 4500 miles there after on every change.
I dont baby my engine break in. The word abuse however is not part of my process either. I use to build race engines that had to go from engine stand to dyno, and race track, so I know a few things about break in process.
