  1. Friend has the 6.2, both flappers and resonators still on and it drones
  2. Yeah mine is a lot louder than yours, but I think it has quite a lot to do with the piping like you said between your setup and mine. I do not have any flappers anymore, still have cat of course, and it is loud but yours is a little more toned down and clear (which I like) and I most likely have more drone than you I would assume because of that. I cannot stand drone on my perf cars, reason I do not have borla ever on them. I run the Corsa Extreme setup currently w/o headers (yet) and its damn loud on WOT but causing zero drone, love that about Corsa and I also think investing in a quality CB makes world of difference when it comes to drone. I have heard the B&B sound clips, I do love that sound as well. I've never driven or been in a C5 to be honest, but I hear nothing but good things about that gen from those who have.
  3. Sounds great. Mine is definitely more raw with the ATAK in a custom CB, but yours has a more clear/consistent tone to it. I like that. I am however fathomed that your truck is louder than your vette which has cams you said, do you not press down on the pedal? lol jk
  4. Interesting, mine is the opposite. your 6.2 just has the full ATAK CB correct? The ATAK's are loud, so depending on setup you have on vette I would believe this lol
  5. Fair point. I'm the opposite just enjoy the loud startup and quiet drive after that. If I'm wanting the roar and idle I take the vette for a drive.
  6. Tips pictured here are primarily stock oem tips ??
  7. You said it does not handle heat well and that is not true. You apply it properly and it will do just fine on a truck and will last a very very long time, and still look great. Like I said these tips are not going to generate the same heat as a corvette or a supercar so plasti dip is just fine. Obviously powdercoat is the best, but that is a much higher cost that perhaps OP does not want to do. If going DIY route, plasti dip is almost foolproof while painting them with high temp paint one better ensure they prep it properly or it will not last as long as even plasti dip
  8. Can use pretty much most aftermarket ones, or if your the handy type cut yours down, reattach the ball and it will just like a shorty oem antenna
  9. Your talking the skid plate I believe. You could swap it for the AT4 plate. Or you could just remove your current oem one and paint or or wrap it, or as already suggested dip it.
  10. The grille is not actual chrome.
  11. Just buy a sheet of it and do it yourself. The tails aren't that complicated, they would be relatively easy to do. Rvinyl and Lamin-x both sell it and are quality films.
  12. Cold start up is the best part of the ATAKs lol
  13. Well that is 100% incorrect. I powder coat everything now, but I've plasti dipped dips on about 5 different cars and a few toys as well. No issues with it wearing off, cleaned easy, looked great years later and heat never impacted it. Yes maybe if your driving an actual sports car like a vette or better generating some serious heat it would, but the truck will not. Plasti dip will hold up just fine, just saying I would do it, but if you do it right it will last a very long time.
  14. Powdercoat is the only real true option that will hold up besides buying an aftermarket set. The DIY method will work, but it will not hold up anywhere near as good. Plasti Dip will honestly hold up better than high temp paint. Got a custom set for my corvette powdercoated, turned out fantastic, cost was great and the downtime was nothing really in big picture. It is a process so it takes time, plus if your getting a color that is not being done on a larger scale anytime soon you will need to wait. Exhaust tips are not a priority compared to much larger jobs, hence the wait they tell you about
  15. I must be one of the ****** truck owners then, only hand wash in the spring/summer and gets the wand washes throughout the winter. My summer cars will never see anything but 2 bucket wash method. If you want to not have to spend hours cleaning it, invest either your time or money into a proper ppe or ceramic coating, then your paint will look great with minimal effort after the fact. Just finished putting 2 coats go collinite on the Z06 to finish off the bottle, few months will ceramic coat it. Depends on what type of owner you are, everyone has their preference; to each their own I always say!
  16. Love it. Mines black so I'm on the fence due to that, but any other color it just makes it that much cleaner and body lines flow better too
  17. If I had to critique you that would have been it, the dye did not match, but the box was so well done I did not want to say anything since its minor, but now that you stated your going to fix that then its perfect. Had solos when they first came out years ago, me and my brother, they pack a great punch and like you said require very little room. Then I upgraded to 4 12's and 2 10's, and well you could hear me from a distance coming lol but that was back when I was a teenager. Enjoy the setup, looks great. You could probably sell those boxes!
  18. If the delete was too loud, then the XS should do the trick for you. From what I've heard of clips (not the same as real life of course) it should provide you with what your after, nothing obnoxious, good at idle and cruise and gives just a hint of the V8 when you on it. Should work out well for your needs!
  19. I second this. That box is well done indeed. Great work.
  20. Removing both flappers will not help with reducing drone
  21. I do not have the XS but I know some members put it on here and enjoyed it, personally it wasn't near loud enough so I was not interested in it. I went with the ATAK, but its loud so you need to like that note. Drone wise you will get some with all Borlas, but it varies, and what you do with the flappers will also dampen the impact of the drone. Some members kept both in, some removed 1 (usually the downward flapper) or like me, removed both. From what I've heard leaving both in will have large impact on drone, but also impacts exhaust tone. I removed both, I love it, but do experience a little drone but only at certain speeds otherwise very little impact. If I was to offer advice generally from what I've noticed many members suggest who do not get full catbacks, it appears removing the forward flapper is the way to go. If you want loud, then remove both. Hope that helps
  22. This is my fear lol. Thinking this might be happening to me in the near future. In process of getting the wife a new car, so after that this becomes my next priority. This makes sense to me. To clarify, popping out the defrost grille and the screws beneath is what you are referring to?
