Bose sub in 2015 LTZ?
BlackZ71Silverado replied to Stanleyj42's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Never said anything about not liking the thread.......Just amazed at how many people drop $35,000 or more on a vehicle without knowing how it's equipped, it's unbelievable. It seems to be happening quite often. I hope people at least know their loan/lease terms before signing, that would be something one should know before signing as well. Sure, I'm "that guy", whatever that means.......I never say anything helpful, nope, not me. FYI, there is no little "X" to click in the corner of the screen on TapaTalk. I wouldn't click on it anyway, I actually love these threads to be honest. Makes one realize that the majority of people pay no attention to detail. All you can do is shake your head after reading some of the "my truck doesn't have", "what does my truck have" threads. The ones I really like are the PO'd customer that wanted something such as lower gears for towing but bought 3.08's, then they blame the salesperson, unreal! Vehicle window stickers and the vehicle build sheet list everything, just like I said before. The easiest way to find out the installed options is to read them BEFORE buying.........very simple, or it should be. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk -

This is another one of those "I bought a truck and don't know what it's equipped with" threads......These are things you should worry about BEFORE you buy a vehicle. If you have an LTZ trim with the stereo system you listed, you have a tiny subwoofer in the console area. Check your window sticker, EVERYTHING your truck is equipped with is on that sticker. -
Sonoma Red Paint Fans
BlackZ71Silverado replied to Chevyman3308's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Over the counter touch up paint really never matches perfectly, especially the metallic. There is a lot more to painting a vehicle and having it match than putting a glob of paint in a chip. Sanding/prepping the area, blending the paint to match, clear coat, buffing, wet sanding, buffing. It will never be a perfect match and look good unless it's done the right way. What have you done to your K2 today?
BlackZ71Silverado replied to block8head's topic in Modifications & Accessories
That's another unfortunate, but perfect example of why I recommend staying away from dealership service departments. Most of the time, if not every time, they cause you more damage than when you dropped it off! I learned this lesson long ago when they destroyed the black paint on my truck and dented the door. STAY AWAY, they will damage your vehicle! -

That's definitely not how it's supposed to look. None of my GM leather was crooked like that. Take it back and don't accept it until it's perfect, just like it was when you took it to them. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk -

Bilstein shocks thread
BlackZ71Silverado replied to yanzhixiang's topic in Modifications & Accessories
People may read this and get confused..........Shocks don't actually give your truck any lift, that's not how vehicles are lifted. Only the adjustable ride height 5100's allow lift by moving the snap ring to set the perch height. There are several brands out that allow for increased ride height by having the coil spring set higher up on the shock. Shocks alone will in no way lift a truck. The rear 5100's are not ride height adjustable and do nothing for the rear ride height. They are simply a direct replacement for OEM shocks. -
Bilstein shocks thread
BlackZ71Silverado replied to yanzhixiang's topic in Modifications & Accessories
The AcDelco Black shocks used to be standard on the Z71 suspension trucks. The Z71 Appearance Package only came with the AcDelco Rancho sticker shocks. Now it seems all of the new model Z71 get stuck with them, bad move on GM's part because they are terrible. -
I say it all the time.....Stay away from dealership service departments, they usually make things worse and create more problems because most have no idea what they are doing. Sorry to hear this happened to you. You should not go there without issues and leave with your truck not running properly because of those know nothing tech's! Do you have any idea what they did to your truck? They need to make it right no matter what needs to be done. Sad because now your only option is to take it back in to have the clown who caused this issue fix it. Good luck, hope it gets back to running normal for you. ^^^^^^ I hope they are ready to replace your tires if they show any irregular wear. If I were you, I would check them over really good. Those genius 'certified tech's' at the dealership should be responsible for cost of tires, mount & balance, and new alignment. Glad you found the issue. Yet another example of why to stay away from stealership service departments. Most of those clowns can't even do regular maintenance properly, proven again. Relax, this is a forum,we ask questions and give advise. No need to get snippy or feel offended. Open carry is a bad idea no matter what the size of the pistol. It advertises you have a firearm and makes you a potential target. Many people do it for attention, because they think it makes them look cool, or to prove a political point. hopefully that's not your goal.

Not sure why he was offended with your question but OC is a bad idea no matter which pistol. All it does is advertise that you have a firearm. Some people do it for the "look at me" factor, just for attention. There is no reason for anybody to know you are carrying a firearm, ever.

But it is a Dodge, what's to get pissed off about? GM : Silverado / Sierra Ford : F150 Toyota : Tundra Nissan : Titan Dodge : Ram Am I missing something maybe? Calling a vehicle the name of the manufacturer should not anger a normal human being. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk -

Really nice color truck! That blue looks nicer every time I see it. It really stands out between the black & white Sierra. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk -
No, GM does absolutely no testing. They just bolt things together and sell them, is that the andwer you want? Sure, go to your dealer on Saturday for free warranty work and tell them they need to pay you for using their free service, makes sense. GM only has issues with a Mexico assembled product, you're a genius for figuring that out, much appreciated! Goid luck with your Toyota Tundra. Maybe they will allow you to hook it up to the space shuttle with motorized wheels underneath and pretend tow it across a bridge? Since the Toyotas are built so well and don't have issues, why even worry about what day of the week it can be serviced? Whatever you do, make sure that there is actually nitrogen in the tires if there are aftermarket valve stems on that thing. Would really hate to have to be punished reading another one of those topics. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk

Great idea on the wrap! My colormatched black 2010 looks terrible from all of the small rock/salt chips. The little chips are now little rust looking spots on the bumper & grille, it's terrible! The plan is to have it repainted and then wrapped so this doesn't happen again. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk -

What did you do with your truck/shop today
BlackZ71Silverado replied to SarahsGMC's topic in The Off-Topic Bar
^^^^^^ That would be your decision to make. A truck with 80,000 miles may actually be in much better mechanical shape than one with 25,000 miles depending on how they were treated. You are going to want to know how the truck was used and if it has been serviced regularly. Knowing that should make the decision easier when it comes time to buy. Remember that the 09-13 6.2L Sierra & Silverado did not have AFM so nothing to worry about there. Those years are GM's best for the 6.2L truck engines. The new trucks all have AFM! GM should have not messed with the 6.2L truck engine, they were perfect without cylinders turning off and on. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk -
Really nice pictures, they look like they are straight out of a GM add. Those tires look perfect on your truck, they fill the wheel wells nicely. Have you checked for rubbing at full wheel lock with the suspension compressed? Anybody know if the 14-15 wheel wells are larger than the 07-13 GMT-900? Also, what is the backspacing on the GM factory wheels? The only way to find out is for me to remove a tire and check one of the wheels on my truck. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk

leveling kit do or don't?
BlackZ71Silverado replied to creamynutbutter's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Where did you come up with that information? The 4x4 pickups with the Z71 suspension sit at the same height as any other GM 4x4 truck that I have ever seen. The suspension differences between Z71, Z85, Z83, NHT ect. are mainly the stiffness of the OEM shocks. Shock length are all the same, but the shocks don't adjust ride height anyway. All of the pickups also come with the same size rear block on top of the rear axel. The leaf springs are also the same measurements from center pin to eye with the same arch no matter the suspension package. If any of the trucks actually were going to sit higher in the rear, common sense says it would be the options like the NHT/max tow that are rated for extra weight. Even if there would be more leafs in the pack to make it stiffer and give a higher spring rate to handle a heavier load, the truck still isn't lifted with the identical spring measurements. The arch and measurements from center pin to eye are the same on the OEM leaf packs. I am going to have to get some measurements next time a 14-15 Silverado/Sierra comes into the shop. The new trucks may be a little different but I doubt it. It would be very noticeable if one were higher than the other. Only difference I have seen are between 1500 & 2500. Any specific reason you went with the small V6 engine instead of the more common 5.3L V8? I don't see many V6 GM trucks in my area, most dealerships only stock the 5.3L, 6.2L 1/2 ton pickups. It was very rare to find the 4.8L on dealer lots also. If you wanted eith the V6 or smaller V8, they usually have to do a dealer trade or order one for you. Nothing wrong with that engine, just curious as to why you made the decision to go small in the full size pickup. I am not really up to speed on the current V6 GM engines but I did own 3 different S10's with the Vortec 4.3L and it was a strong little engine, thirsty, but strong. After having your truck for a while, how do you like that engine so far? Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk

If I were you, I would go get my parts/truck back and run as far away from that place as possible. It's very obvious that the shop is full of clowns that don't know what they are doing and don't even have common tools, like an impact gun, unreal!! Make sure you tell everyone you know to stay away from those jokers. That place sounds like most dealership service departments. Would either of those clowns who were unable to do your springs and don't own an impact gun be a "certified GMTech" by chance? I only ask because it seems to be the type you find at a stealership paging through manuals trying to figure out how to mount a tire onto a wheel. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk -
